    All, but they did not believe on the Name of the Only Son of God.

    This is the Judgement, that Light HAD come into the world, but THESE people loved darkness rather than light.

    Amen

    Go out into the street today and tell someone about God and what He has done and is doing in Christ, tell 50 people and come back and post the results.

    Give them your email address, who knows, sometime in the future, some of them might actually think about it for a moment, come to their senses and cry out to God for mercy and be saved. And if they do, it would be through Grace.

    Anybody know a good source for gospel tracts, I need to start handing them out here where I live in France, they have to be in French though :(

    i fail to see how the people in hell are experiencing any benefits whatsoever from the death of Christ. Guess it was worthless for them huh?

    Guess so. Not me but the Bible matey.

    Praise God for His Grace.

    What do you want me to say? Maybe God will save all and astonish us all? I would like to say that but I cannot see it in the Bible that I read everyday.

    Regards,

    David

    I posted this thought earlier in a different thread, but I think God is dealing with sin forever in Christ and never again will sin spoil God's works. Its as if God in His kindness is teaching all of creation about sin and its results and at the same time displaying His anger, righteousness, mercy, love and a load of other attributes to boot. And one day we will all marvell at this God who alone is from everlasting to everlasting. Remember also that everything will be created new and the former thngs will not be remembered and also not come to mind.

    God is doing something glorious.

    Whetstone, This is what I called a Calvinistic "own goal". You have answered my point. Exactly, how can you guys say that the death of Jesus benefits the non-elect? In what way? And, then I get the typical Calvinistic answer from Cassidy, sin restrained (though I can't see how, since man is very wicked today), rain and sunshine, which has been around 10,000 years before the death of Jesus.

    It is only by rendering Salvation "possible" to everyone without exception, that those who believe in Jesus will be saved. The lost person who rejected Jesus can never be said to "benefit" in any way for Jesus' death, since he is in hell, which could never be called a place of "benefit"?

    Everyone who is in hell, Jesus has died for, but this does not in any way mean that Christ failed, even though Calvinists say this nonsense, but are there by rejecting Jesus as the only Saviour and Lord of their lives.

    Can you show me where Calvins work teaches that nonsense.

    Thanks.

    Whetstone;
    These verses prove that Davids soul was in Hell when Christ died on the cross. Yet Christ showed Him the path of life in the presents of Christ.

    Psa 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
    Psa 16:11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
    Act 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
    Act 2:28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
    Act 2:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day.
    Act 2:30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
    Act 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
    May Christ Shine His Light On Us All;
    Mike

    David's soul in hell? Are you saying that David did not make it to heaven?

    Only if you think "Free will" is worthless.

    Certainly they used it poorly (as did Lucifer).

    Will they cry out "I hate it that I was born a Calvinist-robot", unnable to choose right, unnable to think of an alternative, and arbitrarily selected for hell.

    Surely neither Lucifer nor the sinners in hell will cry out "I wish I had been born a Calvinist-robot and then sent to hell"

    In Christ,

    Bob

    Hi Ictuhs;
    No I'm not saying this, the Bible is. Old testaments saints were the captives held by Death that Christ set free during the three days He was in the tomb. The old testament saints didn't go directly to heaven because they hadn't been born again nor could they be until Christ paid the atoning sacrifice. The blood of animals isn't good enough to pay this debt. They were held captive by they spirit of death until Christ conquered death
    May Christ Shine His Light On us All;

    Christ's blood covered sins past, present and future, even those in the OT. You were saved the exact same way back then as you are now after Christ's death. As we look back at the sacrifice Christ made, they looked forward to the sacrifice Christ would make. Salvation has never changed. The Bible says that Abraham BELIEVED and was credited with righteousness. I BELIEVE and I am credited with righteousness.

    Hi Mike, any Scripture for this? </font>[/QUOTE]The law never saved anyone:
    Romans 3:20 "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law."

    Salvation comes from faith apart from works:
    Romans 3:21-22 "But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the law and the prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference.."

    Romans 4:3 "What does the scripture say? (Genesis 15:6) "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness"." Also see Galatians 3:6-9.

    Jesus is the substance that fulfills the types and shadows in the OT. (Luke 24:44, Romans 3:21-22, Hebrews 1:1-3)

    Each year the jews celebrated the Passover to keep them focused on the One who was to come to die for their sins. (1 Corinthians 5:7, Hebrews 11:28; 39-40) Hebrews 10:1 "The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming, not the realities themselves."

    so far the poll results are pretty even. 8 people say Christ died for all of the people in hell and 7 say Christ didn't die for anyone in hell. hmm.

    Hi Icthus;
    Yes I do have.
    Joh 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
    Joh 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
    Joh 5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
    Joh 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
    Joh 5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
    Act 2:25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
    Act 2:26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
    Act 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
    Act 2:28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
    Act 2:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day.
    Act 2:30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
    Act 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
    May Christ shine His Light On Us all;
    Mike
