Most Christians here, place all of Christianity into one of two categories:
Your either a Calvinist or an Arminian; But there is a third category.

You might be part of the remnant.
    --------------------------------------------------
The word remnant means a small part of the whole; And in this case, the whole we are talking about is the complete collection of God’s people, most of which have never even heard of Calvinism or an Arminianism, yet they are still truly born again.

Well, of this complete collection of God’s people, there is a small remnant, that are not any better than the rest, they just have an understanding or viewpoint, that the vast majority do not have.

This remnant, sees both divisions of Calvinism or an Arminianism, as error, but realize that most Calvinist and some Arminians are saved, in spite of this error.
Now I am not saying that John Calvin was in error; He was a great preacher, yet some have taken his teachings, and twisted them a little, to create “error”
(For instance, I don’t thing the TULIP, was a main part of Calvin’s teaching, but today’s Calvinism makes it such.)
    --------------------------------------------------
But let me get back on point.
Even though the Bible clearly teaches the existence of a “remnant”, there are many here who will reject the idea, and ask me to prove it.
Well lets go back to the first recorded member of the remnant of God’s people; Noah.

There were many believers living during the time of Noah(like Methuselah & Enoch), that did not help him build the ark; They may have seen Noah as a fellow believer, but thought that he had just gone a little bit overboard.

But the truth was, God had revealed something to Noah, that he hadn’t revealed to any of the other believers of his age.
(Although Enoch was in a category by himself).
    --------------------------------------------------
I had to say all of this, because recently someone here, expressed the idea of being close to accepting reformed theology; And was encouraged by some of our reformed brethren here, to “come on in”.

Well, to that person I would like to say, you have another choice; You might be on the road to becoming one of God’s remnant, so don’t be so quick to tie yourself down, to some man-made theology.

I'm not sure what the OP is about, but when speaking of the "remnant", it usually refers to the Jews. They are God's remnant.

Check this out from Micah 5:8 and notice where the remnant shall be.

And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.

Was not Jacob an OT type of Jesus?

    Peace and Prayers

Interesting. I'm not sure about Jacob being a type of Jesus. I'll have to do some searching, but Jacob was another name for Israel.

You know, a good thread might be "types of Christ".

That supports the idea of the remnant being the Jews. :)

    AND

Acts 15:14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles,(Heathen) to take out of them a people for his name. For space reasons only parts of Ezekiel 36:19,22,23,24 And I scattered them among the heathen (Gentiles) Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not [this] for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. And I will sanctify my great name, and the heathen shall know that I [am] the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. For I will take you from among the heathen. Not necessarily all but Jeremiah 3:14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: Rom ans 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

Romans 8:23 And not only [they], but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit,(Began on day of firstfruits-Pentecost) even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body.

Just so we can get Calvin involved even if he didn't know. Same people in next verses.

Romans 8:28,29 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Here is what Jesus says he will do after he has done post 9.

Acts 15:16 I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
Will birth his sons from the earth. Luke 20:36 last part and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.

Then he tells why. Acts 15:17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

Notice it is the Lord and those he has called for his name they seek.

Joel 2:32 says the same thing about the Lord and the remnant.

And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
