The Real Truth about Canadian Health Care

Some people spend far too much time reading spurious news items without reading all that is to be said.......like, one womanis under question about her actions and claims that Canada's Medical Care system failed her so she went to the USA and then complained because Canada only pays the equivalent fee that exists in Canada.......

The true conservatives provide for themselves and many others. They get out of bed while most are still sleeping. They never draw welfare or unemployment. Every morning the folks in the city need to thank them for eat bite they eat. If it were not for the true conservatives in the U.S. most everything in America would shut down.

That's all cool, until you get laid off by no fault of yours, and cannot get a job. There is no shame in getting unemployment insurance payments. You have earned them.

 

When did any employee pay for unemployment benefits?

Farmers do not get laid off. They never draw unemployment.

Teachers cannot draw unemployment either.

If insurance had not existed then I could have made about 30% more in business or charged my customers less.

Many complain about various things but I have not heard any of them complain about vacation benefits, worker's compensation, health care benefits, disability, and unemployment benefits. There was a time when none of those existed.

 

And let me guess. You think it was better that way.

 

My real point is that many are complaining about a number things calling themselves conservatives when taxes are at the lowest they have been in probably 40 years or more.

If we went back to true conservatism I am quite sure people like the farmers and those who own their own businesses would be very happy.

I come from a long line of self employed farmers and businessmen. For many years I owned my own business and provided my own benefits. As time went by it cost me more and more to employ someone. It got harder and harder to find the same quality of worker I once got.

So if the U.S. did away with regulation it would be better financially for the smaller businessman and manufacturer. The small businessman is fading while large businesses have the resources to import products and increase their profits and avoiding regulation.

If the U.S. provided basic benefits I would think it would encourage smaller operators.

My basic costs were around 40% of an employee's wages that he did not pay. My insurance costs went from 8.5% to about 25%.

In late 2004 I looked up some numbers:

Aetna reported:
March 31, 2004 net income of 365.8 million
March 31, 2003 net income of 330.0 million
March 31, 2004 operating expenditures of 983.7million
March 31, 2003 operating expenditures of 1020.4 million
During this time their net income increased 35.8 million and their expenditures went down 36.7 million.

Health Care Premiums increased
11% in 2001
13% in 2002
14% in 2003
While at the same time the annual rate of general inflation was less than 4%

When taxes were higher I invested more in my business and employees. When taxes were lowered I subcontracted more of the work and had less employees. When taxes were higher and insurance less I actually banked more money.

 

Evidently when you criticized Limbaugh (the Pig-man!) it upset Curtis. He's been after you ever since. You have to be careful when attacking someone's idol! :laugh:

 

If I remember correctly Curtis does not care for Limbaugh.

 

I don't care too much for Hannity, I do listen to Rush when I can.

But to insult those with an opposing view, instead of a point/counterpoint argument is the lazy way out. Add that with blatant hypocrisy, and you have a very poor debator.
