Not the "common" terms, but many heavy doctrinal terms seems almost FOREIGN to posters on the BB because they don't know basic definitions. Oer in the General Forum we have a discussion on Supra, Sub and Infra Lapsarian - and I'm sure even there many don't understand what a "lapsis" even is!

    And terms used here:
    Calvinism
    Hypostatic Union
    Pelagian
    Kenosis
    Election
    Depravity

Even some of the most basic Bible terms
    Propitiation
    Justification
    Sin
    Sanctification
    Redemption
    Reconciliation
    Regeneration
    Calling
    Faith
    Adoption

    Or terms in church use
    Ecclesia
    Presbuteros
    Sacrament
    Ordinance
    Episcopos

ADD TO THIS LIST - BUT DON'T DEBATE ONE HERE: Let's keep this thread as an expanding list of terms to be discussed and defined.

THEN YOU START A THREAD on one (or more) of the terms of interest to you. It will give us some great topics for the coming weeks.

    Postmodernism
and whatever other categories fit in

    Some important terms:
    perechorisis
    catholic (little "c")
    Israel
    Kingdom of God/Heaven

Bob, you hit on "Pelagianism." What about other historic heresies: Sabellianism, Arianism, Novatianism, Nestorianism, Donatism, Montanism, etc. Also, the concepts of orthodoxy, heterodoxy, and heresy might be interesting.

    Others to come,

    Grace and Peace, Danny [IMG]

Some other terms that might be good:

    (Classical) Dispensationalism
    Progressive Dispensationalism
    Federal theology/Covenant Theology
    Amillenialism
    Post-millenialism
    Pre-millenialism
    Historical Pre-Millenialism
    Consubstantial Union
    Eucharist
    Openness of God
    Process Theology
    Liberation Theology

Seems this will be a growing list.

    Repentance
    Substitution
    Propitiation
    Remission
    Imputation
    Supplication
    Foreknowledge
    Predestination
    Deacon
    Elder
    Ordained
    Minister
    Pastor
    Preacher
    Spitirual Gift

It would be great to have established definitions for these words but, the problem is that everyone and every church thinks their middle name is "Webster" and that they can tweak any definition to fit their practice or belief.

Fruit of the Spirit (Love) agape :

A Christian life by the fruit of the Spirit(Love), not following after the gifts of the Spirit. For the Corinthians I COR 1:7 were "behind in no gift" and yet were one of the most carnal churches in the whole New Testament.

    But I listed semi-pelagianism, which is the same evil works-oriented pseudo-theology. So I covered Arminian . . . [IMG]

    Dr. Griffin,

Be careful what you saying toward Arminians. I am sure that you are aware of several baptists in this baptistboard are arminians.

Some arminians are good Christians. Some calvinists are not good Christians. Only God knows us, Let God judge us.

I have LOT of things that I do not agree with Calvinism doctrine. I aware that you are Calvinist. But also, I am NOT arminianist. I am a truly baptist, also Bible believer(NOT KJVO).

We cannot be expect every Christians have same view, same mind, same belief on earth. Once we get into heaven, there have the same mind, same belief. We are all human on earth, our understanding of the Bible is limited. Once, we get into heaven, we shall understand everything.

    In Christ
    Rev. 22:20-Amen!

    Arminianism is not semi-Pelagianism.

    Pelagianism is heresy.

Arminianism, as expounded by Wesley, is well within orthodoxy.

[IMG] [IMG] Of course I know this and pull their chains by calling them semi-pelagians! We can't use the word "her*sy" on the BB so the next worse thing I could call someone is a semi-pelagian!

Pelagianism is works and is wrong. But SEMI-pelagian believes in man's work, too, though from a different perspective. I trust someone will pick up this for a topic for debate!
