Third Day seem to be getting popular in Australia.

Any Third Day fans in here?

They have one or two songs I like but I'm not a big fan of that kind of music.

I took some kids from the youth group to see them live and they put on a good show, though.

I like them a lot. I think I've got every one of their recordings, except the most recent, which I'll eventually probably get.

I love their sound. The are called christian "southern rock" by some, but it doesnt really fit for me. Maybe if they took long instrumental solos like any good "southern rock" band does I might agree, but they take quick little breaks.

Again though, I really love their sound. The band gets some really interesting grooves going, and the lead singer is a big time "singer" for sure.

And I like the fact that on many of their songs they are very up front, lyrically, about God and Jesus Christ, rather than being real vague about it like some in CCM.

    They are very good! [IMG]

    Southern Rock, Hmmm.

I have also been tying to figure out what category you might put Third Day into. They seem to have quite an original sound.

This is my husbands favorite group. We both really like the Third Day Offerings CD. Love the songs King Of Glory and Thief!

Some of the best concerts I have attended have been Third Day concerts.

While I do not like every song they sing, they definitely have some keepers.

Never heard of them. Any songs that would "stand out" that they wrote/performed that we might see in our P/W music in church?

    Bob,

They put out a record...ooops, I'm showing my age here...a CD a couple years ago called "Offerings, a Worship Album" that has some that have been used in churches.

One, in particular, "King of Glory" is very good. It has become very popular.(also "Your Love Oh Lord") As a matter of fact, I play guitar in our worship group at church and I'm thinking of running it past our worship leader to see if maybe we can start playing it. (I hope, I hope!)

When my wife and I went to the Billy Graham crusade in Louisville a year or so ago, Third Day did "King of Glory", I believe. Either that one or "Your Love Oh Lord", but I think the 1st.

Anyway, whichever one it was, I'll tell you what...there were about 60,000 people getting into some serious worship during that song. It was an anointed time.

I think they have just come out with a 2nd worship album. If so I'm sure I'll be getting it is due time.

    God bless,

    Mike

Best band ever! I like them more than any secular band I ever listened to long ago! I like any of their songs and I love to see them in concert, they are even better!

    Cool [IMG]

If anyone has a weblink to their upcomming second album, please post it here. If it is anything like "Offerings" it would be well worth a look.

Went to the Come Together and Worship tour with TD, Mike W. Smith, and Max Lucado. It was basically a big church service with 20,000 people at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Incredible voice on Mac Powell the lead singer, Their cd's are good, but they are much better in person. Their early stuff was much heavier, they seem to have settled into a much more musical style and have done a couple worship albums as well. It's crazy, we have American bands getting popular in Austrailia, and Australian bands that are hugely popular in the U.S. (Newsboys)

Ben, I don't know how releases work in Australia, but here Third Day has six albums that I know of. You could just check out the site www.thirdday.com and see about their different ones if you haven't yet, they should have something there.

I don't like them, though they do have a couple decent worship songs(though I can't think of any off the top of my head). The lead singer has a good voice, but it's way too country for me. I've seen them at Creation two or three times now, and I'll see them again in two weeks. They put on an ok show, nothing compared to Newsboys or Supertones, but ok. Their concert is the only time I've ever seen a band get upset because the crowd was excited.

Dr. Bob, yes you've heard of them. They received some notoriety by playing in that "worship" tour with Michael W. Smith that was sponsored by Chevrolet.

I'm American... and do not like Country Music... [IMG]

As for me, Third Day represents some of the best in Christian Music. Their hearts are in the right place, and they minister effectively to the body through music and spoken word. I'll go see them again next time they're close.
