Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending

    By STEVEN A. HOLMES
    Published: September 30, 1999

In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.

The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets -- including the New York metropolitan region -- will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.

Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

That is right ... but it is only one piece in the puzzle. And Bush did nothing to change the problem. There is blame to go round to a whole bunch of people in both parties including conservatives and democrats.

In September 2003 the Republicians controlled both the House of Representatives and the Senate. So Democrats opposed the plan ... but some Republicians must have opposed it also else they could have pushed reforms through. But Bush ultimately opposed the reforms ... and like I have said, there is enough blame to go around to all sides, all parties. See the quote below:

Oh please. Your source is a joke. Barney Frank for Congress propaganda. LOL

Even Clinton admits democrats caused the current crises.

Scrambling again to cover your lie that Bush did nothing to reign in fannie mae and the democrats.

The democrats are 100% responsible for the mortgage meltdown.

Lies , whining and misdirection will not change that basic fact.

You may not like Barney Frank, I may not like Barney frank ... that is not the point ... look at the sources quoted ... they are very credible.

I would say these are pretty good sources.

You're right. I don't like Barney Frank. I don't like anything about him, especially the fact that'he's a sexual deviate and all the while he was protecting fannie mae, he was in a sodomite relationship with it's leader.

I woudn't believe anything that comes out of his mouth or anything he puts in print.

He's a liar and the "Patron saint" of fannie mae and freddie mac.

Democrats , as a whole , are totally responsible for the mortgage meltdown. Barney Frank exemplifies their obstructionism and corruption.

    Besides:

Even Clinton admits democrats caused the current crises.

And Clinton, being the democrat godfather, just wouldn't lie about this, would he?

Typically, since he just had to lie about something, he lied about his role in it.

It was government publications that linked Bush to the fiasco. There is blame on both sides.

The quotes are from government documents that happen to be on his web site. Why don't you do some research, find the documents from the agencies web site and read them there.

    Follow your own advice.

The evidence is overwhelming, as you've illustrated by your inability to counter it.

Democrats are almost totally at fault for the mortgage meltdown that began this financial mess.

And your buddy Barney, and his partner in sodomy, are right there leading the way to disaster.

The entire government over the last year has been a disaster, both parties failing to accomplish anything or provide leadership. Bush did one thing that stands out from the rest of the ruins. He appointed two conservative justices to the Supreme Court, true conservatives, unlike Bush the First.
