It will shock me if he doesn't endorse McCain.

I love to see an ambitious man. His influence will make no real difference in the final account, though, or he would have been more influential in the primaries. His votes will be divided amont Huckabee, Romney, and (to a lesser degree) McCain and Gulliani.

Sad to see that. Well now I gotta decide who I will vote for all over again.

    Jamie won't be happy :)

I think he will endorse McCain, but I would agree that his few votes will prob be spread out among all of em.

You haven't heard the last from Fred Thompson . If Mccain does not live up to the super-duper candidate status that the media has accorded him -- prepare for a brokered convention and the 2-nd advent ( nothing irreverent intended ) of Thompson . It will not be as a mere vice-presidential candidate but as the head of the ticket .

I don't think anyone was suprised by this. I never thought he was that serious of a candidate to begin with. I knew he was going to drop out after South Carolina.

I know it bothered the Paris Hilton types hat Fred didn't have the Hillary-type "If I don't get to be president I'm just going to die because that's my reason for breathing" obsession. Instead, Fred had a consistent conservative record, a federalist approach, and a Reaganesque style that irked the pseudo-conservatives.

I don't think he'll endorse anyone yet. I have no idea who will benefit from his withdrawl. Some believed he siphoned votes off of Huckabee due to Thompson's socially conservative message, but I'm not convinced that Thomspon supporters would embrace Huckabee's moderate stances on some issues. Since there really isn't another consistent conservative in the race, I have no idea who a Fred head would support.

The Psuedocons now have the field to themselves.

Would his endorsement really mean anything?!? His uneventful time in the Senate, and now a half-hearted run as the office of POTUS.

Does it really matter who he points his finger at?

Well, it matters that he didn't point a finger at Clinton during sex-gate. When Hillary becomes President, the DNC should send him a gift basket.

Fred who? Toughen up little conservative campers there are still plenty of CFR and CFR backed candidates around for you to vote for. In both parties.

Call me crazy, but with the republican party awash in a sea of liberal canidates, I'm surprised he didn't announce a third party/independant run for office.
