While I don't like Bush in general, and I don't approve of the Iraq situation, I do think he is making a good effort to let the people know what is going on.

Over the last few weeks, since he has been giving his speeches, it makes since that we need to finish what was started. Now if going into Iraq was the right thing or not, that is a different debate, but right now, like Bush said, we can either Win this thing, or Quit.

I am/was against the War in Iraq, but at this point, we have to finish.

    Jamie,

That is the most clear headed, reasonable thought I have heard from an anti-war liberal in a long time. If only the Democrats would be as reasonable as you are instead of trying to defeat America politically like they did in Vietnam. You and Lieberman are at least honorable when it comes to the issue of the war in Iraq. I applaud the two of you for that. May your numbers increase in the Democrat Party or may you become a Republican one day. [IMG]

    Jamie,

I respect those who disagree with the war in Iraq. I even more respect those who disagree yet understand that we should not cut and run.

    Greetings FTR:

We are definitely in agreement that to "cut and run" is certainly out of the question. We are stuck there, most likely for many years to come. That is something that was predicted by some among us even before the operation began. We do indeed agree on that.

My question is: "How long?" Of course, my question is rhetorical, as there really is no chance that we will be leaving anytime soon.

Merry Christmas to you and yours,
    BiR

    Merry Christmas, BiR!

There is truly nothing wrong with asking "How long?" My only hope is that those voices remain few and not loud, not because I want to stifle dissent, but only because I don't want our enemies to find strength in our division. It is good, in a democratic form of government, as I've said before, that there be voices of dissent cautioning us back from war. Government must be wise, though, in the counsel it listens to.

I think Viet Nam taught us a lesson on this matter.

    Phillip,

That being a perfect example of what I mean. I have no problem with dissent from going to war. Jane Fonda, however, should have been tried for treason.

    FTR,
You can blame the media for Jane Fonda. Had the media simply ignored Jane, she wouldn't have had that much of an impact. I watched Jane at a rally in L.A. in the early 70's, she did not command such a large audience at the time most people got bored or turned off and left. All I got out of it was an angry woman yelling stuff in a microphone. But that was just my experience.

    Ed quick & dirty definitions:

    LOOSE - "cut and run"
WIN - stay for 60 years or more

Hello folks, we live in a hostile world
that calls the USofA 'the great Satan'.
We do not live in a 'Sunday School picnic'
    world.

JamieinNH, I've agreed with you on a couple of occasions now---are you leaning to the right, or me to the left?? [IMG] [IMG]

Seriously, you are thus far the most levelheaded "disagree'er" I've encountered on this board. Your reputation with the rank & file (liberals) is going to be damaged though if you continue to display common sense!

No, I blame Jane Fonda for Jane Fonda. I'm not a big fan of the dominant media but neither the messenger nor the photographer should be shot for Fonda sitting in a North Vietnamese anti-air weapon seat.
