    1. Consistency - Put time aside for a regular study of the Word of God. Don't only study the Bible for a quick fix.

Read it several times, placing emphasis on different words each time… for instance..

“The Lord is my Shepard, I shall not want…”

    The LORD is my shepherd…

    The Lord is MY shepherd….

    The Lord is my SHEPHERD….

Meditate each time on the consequences of each emphasis.

    peace to you

There is so much good stuff in these links,
I forget what it was that I saw about these people that was WAY WRONG.

(oH, Yeah, here's one: WHY WE DON'T BELIEVE IN THE TRINITY.)

So, if you see something that is WAY OFF, be prepared to ignore it.

Speaking of that, Deacon, I believe, has me on 'ignore' for trashing a Bible,
so even though it is very good stuff, for his O.P., he won't see it.

    Also, you CAN NOT believe all the information they have in #5;
#5. HOW TO CALCULATE BIBLICAL TIME Index. Check that one out.

(O.K., for another example, this is horribly, horribly wrong:
#4.1 REASONS WHY MAN is NOT BORN IN SIN with a SIN NATURE.
Their beliefs are at the bottom of this page:
LOGOS APOSTOLIC CHURCH of GOD and BIBLE COLLEGE).

Nevertheless, here are some good tips, suggestions, habits, etc.,
& BASIC STUFF AS A REMINDER FOR US
that may aid you in studying the Bible:

    Pray, pray, pray.

Read a book or epistle through, at least twice, as a narrative. The idea is that the Biblical writers were composing a coherent message to an audience rather than a reference for theological points.

Keep a note of passages you find difficult or don't understand, but don't research then yet. First get a good handle on the context.

Then slowly study. Form an opinion before resorting to the views of others.

If you come up with a new interpretation then assume you are wrong.
