Lt. Colonel Dave Grossman is a professed Christian and an expert in the field of "Killology". The following is exerpts from an article called "Trained to Kill". While I do not concur with his gun control position, the whole article is very fascinating and makes an excellent argument for how we are training children to be killers through the use of television, movies and video games.

Art imitates life, not the other way around. People were killing each other in great numbers before video games & T.V. I would imagine video games are not all that prevalent in Palestine, where tons of kids have commited very violent acts.

    The problem is parents.

The Palestinian children do not need a television, they get brutalized and desensitized via the real thing.

Even Cain figured out how to kill using the inherent evilness in his own being.

How old was David when he took Goliath out ? David had a pretty violent reign as king, I like how he kept Goliath's head & carried it around to show how bad he was.

Everyone has a killer instinct in him.

That is because of our fallen nature.

Conversely, there is no one born with a desire to kill. I read somewhere that given the number of rounds fired by both sides in both theaters of the last world war, there should have been more casualties than what is actually on record, the implication being that both sides generally shot past and over each other's heads, or deliberately missed, the exception, perhaps, being close quarter combat, or small unit combats.

Man, you said a mouth full there! I believe this too. It only takes looking at each generation and how we "lose" a little with each one passing to see that it's the parents and the "home life" that is causing the bulk of our mess.

My parents (who are 72 and 76) talk about how it was in their day, working, school, respect for people and then I look at how I am (at 40) and I feel I am more respectable then most kids these days. I would never do or say some of the things these kids do. My mama would smack me one if I got out of line.

It just looks like a pattern of no parenting or poor parenting or a poor home life.

There is a saying similar to this problem and it goes something like this. If everyone shop owner would sweep their part of the sidewalk, then the whole sidewalk would be clean.

If every parent would care for and teach their kids, then everyone would grow up a more respectable person.

This is of course my opinion from looking at things, but I agree with you Bro. Curtis, it's got more to do with the parenting then most would accept.

I would agree about your sentiments regarding the problem relative to parents. This problem is exhibited via the parents lack of care for their children that they would allow their children to be trained for violence, via television programming, movie-watching, game consoles and other such like.

I have been around 2 year olds too long to think that children have to be taught to kill. That comes "naturally." Just as soon as they are physically able to inflict injury on one another, they will. You really just have to see a group of toddlers attempting to gouge each others' eyes out over a toy. Nobody taught them to do that. It comes down to motivation.

I love kiddos, but fallen nature is all too obvious in them.

Meanwhile we do have to train them to be civil, and that means in part not exposing them to violence, as well as teaching them other methods to resolve conflict.
