I have heard it well put that salvation is like hitting a home run, you can’t be thrown out but you must touch all the bases! All who are born again will touch all the bases because God ensures it, for His complete uninterrupted favor in Christ on our behalf will ever be secure. There can be nothing additional to God’s favor in the believer nor anything to detract it, and this always supplies freshness to our desire in pleasing Him. Though the believer’s lessons in understanding our eternal place in Christ will be endless, we can rest in knowing our race is won in Him!

    True Devoutness

When I rest in the Lord Jesus, then I begin to find all my joy and strength in Him, and I occupy myself with Him. This is the first step, or the foundation of true devoutness. I do not become devoted in the true sense until I have found rest in Him. I am, up to this, rather looking to receive from Him. I am more an object to myself; but when I find how fully I am an object to Him, then my heart is at liberty to make Him its object, He having made me His.

A great deal of what is apparently devoutness is an effort to obtain a sense of His interest in one; it is a devoutness to obtain intimacy, instead of a devoutness resulting from intimacy. Hence work is resorted to as affording a kind of joy, according as there is success; but the acts done with a motive of this kind betray their source in that the doer is more occupied with success than with assurance of the Lord Jesus’ approval, and is consequently dependent on good results for cheer and encouragement.

Nothing can be plainer than that if I desire to be devoted to a person, my first work must be to be well acquainted with that one and for this I must sit at His feet and learn of Him by His Word. Of this Mary is an example, when she sat at his feet and heard His words. Martha, on the other hand, had zeal and ability, but instead of seeking to understand what was on His mind, she cumbered herself with a very useful service, but one which was suggested by her own mind.

Every servant who has ever known the “good part” can trace in his own course to how often he has made this mistake and addressed himself to something apparently, and in his judgement, a most useful undertaking and service, and afterwards found how arduous and non-compensating it was to his spirit. While, on the other hand, surely the true heart knows well that there is nothing equal to the rewards it receives from the Lord Jesus, when simply and exclusively occupied with Himself, and seeking His mind and thoughts.

It is the Ruth-like heart that cleaves to Naomi when apparently there is nothing to be gained by doing so, and who does so merely to satisfy the affections of the heart. Such a one is always ready for the next work, and that is, doing the immediate will of the One who so entirely controls me. Ruth does exactly as Naomi instructs her, and gleans the field. Mary Magdalene does exactly as the Lord tells her, and she goes and informs His brethren the very first and chief line of thought in His heart for them.

In both these cases the personal devoutness came first, and the serving devoutness came next. But it is well to bear in mind that not only is it in His society that I am satisfied myself, but it is there I become qualified for being an exponent of Him who satisfies me; otherwise I am speaking of one I do not personally know.

The Marys know the first work; their hearts are exclusively occupied with this, and hence when they act, they know what suits His heart. One anoints His body for the burial, and the other communicate His mind to His brethren. Occupation with that which is His peculiarly and distinctly marks each of them in their service on earth. They are Christ’s ministers to His saints on earth; and, like Timothy, they mind the things that are Jesus Christ’s, and naturally care for the state of those on whom His heart is set; or, also like Timothy, they do the work of an evangelist to gather up the missing ones into the rest and delight of His heart.

You can only love God as much as the person you hate most.

Some folks trust God so much they would be pretty insulted with a certificate of salvation. Some even still love God after you tell them they are doomed.

Once Saved Always Saved is definitely in the bible:

    Genesis 3
4The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die!

Its the first thing Satan preached.

Amen! OSAS is the primary spiritual growth doctrine in all of the Scriptures. Those who are born again have "eternal salvation" (Heb 5:9), even if they do not understand and believe it!

Well believing your born again is very reassuring, But hearing it from God is greater.

God can even tell you to your face, you are saved.

    Ezekiel 33

13“When I say to the righteous he will surely live, and he so trusts in his righteousness that he commits iniquity, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but in that same iniquity of his which he has committed he will die.

God can tell you face to face, YOU ARE SAVED. Hearing it straight from God is greater.

"You will surely live" Sin.......you fall.

    Galatians 5

19Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Paul gives SAVED believers a WARNING.

7You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth?

If we are consistent we say no one can hinder you from obeying the truth.

From the beginning Satan preaches excuses to sinning. And even when you do sin he says its God's fault for withholding grace.

NOPE. When you sin its your fault.

Amen! He makes certain that we know salvation is never self-effected but God-effected!

What's your thoughts on the below commentary:

"But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness,...." This is to be understood, not of a truly righteous man, for no man can be so denominated from his own righteousness, but from the righteousness and obedience of Christ; and such a man cannot turn from His righteousness, for that is the righteousness of God and can never be lost and is an everlasting one which will always endure, and with which eternal life is inseparably connected.

"But this is to be interpreted of one that is reckoned so from his own righteousness, what he himself has done, and not from another, from the righteousness of Christ, which He has wrought out; He is one that is righteous in His own esteem, and in the account of others; who is outwardly righteous before men; who trusts in himself that he is righteous, and trusts to his own righteousness; see Ezekiel 33:13.

"Whose righteousness is not an evangelical one, but either a ceremonial righteousness, or at most a mere moral one, consisting of some negative holiness, and a few moral performances, as appears from Ezekiel 18:5; and from such a righteousness as this a man may turn, commit iniquity, sin and die; see 2 Peter 2:20.

"And is no proof or instance of the apostasy of real saints, true believers, or truly righteous men; besides, this man is represented as a transgressor, or "prevaricator," as the word signifies; a hypocrite, a man destitute of the truth of grace, and of true righteousness." John Gill

When God himself says one is righteous then it is so. Your better off explaining a "ceremonial" wickedness to be consistent.

Its better if you believe what the bible says instead of having to make up opposite meaning.

Not only do you fall, but you can destroy, perish brothers who Christ died for.

    1 Corinthians 8
11And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

    Matthew 23
15“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.

Telling folks they can't fall from sinning only makes them twice as much a son of hell.

    Matthew 24
13“But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.

Once Saved Always Saved is Satan's doctrine. Adam and Eve were once pure.

    Who gave this deal?

Just kneel before me, worship me, believe I am the Lord and The kingdom of heaven is yours.

Satan gave that deal to Jesus.

    Matthew 4
9and he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.”

What do you have to do to be saved? Would you have us believe Jesus gave the exact same deal Satan does?

THE EXACT SAME DEAL. Just accept me as your LORD and you get in the kingdom!

    Luke 10
25And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?” 27And he answered, “YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” 28And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; DO THIS AND YOU WILL LIVE.”

Jesus Christ says the right way. Satan's way is not Jesus' way. Satan loves once saved always saved. Satan wants sin.

Satan hates scriptures needs to always change it. Loves everything BACKWARDS.

The word of the Lord says:
    James 2
24You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone

    Satan whispers......BACKWARDS:
You see that a man is justified by faith alone and not by works.

Instead of scribbling new meanings, rewriting the word of God backwards and adopting Satan's doctrine, Why not become a bible believing Christian?

I'm not saying your faith is wrong. I'm just saying you don't believe what you say you do. It would be nice if there was consistency.

When Scripture refers to one being righteous it is always in God not self, for there has never been a person who was righteous within himself (Rom 3:10), thus when Scripture makes references like "a righteous man" (Eze 3:20), "the righteous" (18:24; 33:20), it does not intend self righteousness.

If a person were self-righteous then it would have just claimed they were wicked.

We are talking about GOD declared. God gives 2 examples. One he declared righteous then falling and one who he declared wicked and damned yet changing his ways.

Heres the other contrast you have not read:

    Ezekiel 33

14“But when I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and he turns from his sin and practices justice and righteousness, 15if a wicked man restores a pledge, pays back what he has taken by robbery, walks by the statutes which ensure life without committing iniquity, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

He is indeed talking to a wicked person. He is telling them they will not be saved.

God is telling them to their face. That man changes...... God says he is going to be saved.

Here is the verse prior to that:

13“When I say to the righteous he will surely live, and he so trusts in his righteousness that he commits iniquity, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but in that same iniquity of his which he has committed he will die.

Just like the other verse, he is indeed speaking to a righteous person. We already heard how he handles wicked person.

He gives two examples. One is a man righteous, pure, elect, declared saved by God, yet he falls. The other is a wicked man, damned, totally out of God's favor yet he is saved.

    Jesus gives a similar instance.

    Mathew 21
28“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in the vineyard.’ 29“And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he regretted it and went. 30“The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go. 31“Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.

The status is the same for both. Both are sons of the man.

I need to be more clearer in saying that the people and children of God are righteous and this is not what I'm debating. It must be understood that man has no inherent self righteousness and is rather imputed, but not imparted, for the divine attributes of God (righteousness, holiness, justification, etc.) are incommunicable to man.

The phrase "none righteous" designs the assumption as concerning self-attained holiness instead of imputed holiness.

Imputed holiness is what the righteous guy had. And he thought because of his status he was exempt and had a license to sin. God doesn't call what he had a false righteousness.
You still got this idea that the bad thing about sins is the consequences of sin. The worst thing about sin is the sin itself.
A pious man, one who loves God would rather go through hell over and over then offend God.
To never sin again is the PRIZE not the chore.
You never see God upset with someone who is upset with themselves. We see the opposite of chosen or elect, the opposite of favor. God calls a man wicked, Tells him he will not be saved and will be damned. A man cut from what most people call reward, YET he repents, changes his ways, practices righteousness God says this man is going to LIVE.

God didn't stick his hand up his back and work him like a puppet. This man repented. Am I saying this wicked man gets credit? No this guy can't even breathe, his heart can't even give one beat without God's aid.

God teaches us things, He doesn't just hit "delete" on your mind and writes a new person.

Amen, those who do not trust in their own righteousness for life are righteous in God, not self.
