Donald Trump used small donors’ money to buy nearly $300,000 worth of books from the publisher of his Art of the Deal last month, continuing a pattern of plowing campaign money back into his own businesses.

The Oct. 15 Federal Election Commission filing for Trump Make America Great Again Committee does not specify which books in particular were purchased, but the committee’s own website suggests it was Trump’s 1987 business bestseller.

“I’ve signed an out-of-print, hardcover copy of ‘The Art of the Deal’ just for you, because I want you on board with Team Trump!” Trump wrote in an Aug. 2 fundraising email, which went on to offer the book for a minimum donation of $184.

Trump’s statement calling the book “out-of-print,” repeated on the committee’s website, however, is false. The Art of the Deal had a new paperback edition printed last October, and the hardcover is currently in print and available from Random House and retail booksellers. Barnes and Noble, for example, sells it for $22.35.

According to the committee’s Oct. 15 FEC filing, it paid Penguin/Random House $91,866 on Aug. 30, $98,975 on Sept. 1, and another $98,975 on Sept. 22. The purpose for all three was listed as: “Collateral: Books.”

The publishing house has printed five titles by Trump, including How to Get Richand Think Like a Billionaire. The biggest seller, though, was The Art of the Deal, which was published in 1987 but has remained in print ever since. Trump frequently boasts about it in his campaign speeches, and it is the only one mentioned on the Trump fundraising website.

At the standard bulk discount offered by publishers, Trump’s fundraising committee could have purchased some 17,000 copies of the hardcover edition. Under a typical publishing contract, that quantity would generate over $70,000 in royalties, which Trump would have to split with his co-author.

According to Trump’s financial disclosure statement filed in May, Trump received between $50,000 and $100,000 in royalties for that title over the previous year.

    And...?

Would you like to discuss your thoroughly corrupt candidate and her many scandals and misuses of public money to enrich herself and all her violations of the public trust???...not to mention her violations of the law.

True, but you don't have to bring that up just to thank us.

His campaign bought books at cost to give away in his fund raising activity. Perfectly legal and entirely in keeping with currant campaign practices.

But he used campaign donors money to buy the books, $300,000, and he will get a royalty on each book sold. He used donors money, charging huge fees to various Trump hotels and to his airplane. All this donor money helped Donald.

And here is a new scandal just breaking:

    From: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...ion-donald-trump-faces-foreign-donor-fundrai/

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is facing a fundraising scandal after a Telegraph investigation exposed how key supporters were prepared to accept illicit donations from foreign backers.

Senior figures involved with the Great America PAC, one of the leading "independent" groups organising television advertisements and grassroots support for the Republican nominee, sought to channel $2 million from a Chinese donor into the campaign to elect the billionaire despite laws prohibiting donations from foreigners.

In return, undercover reporters purporting to represent the fictitious donor were assured that he would obtain “influence” if Mr Trump made it to the White House.

You don't know MY candidate silly man. I will be doing another write-in and have narrowed it down to two people of which you know neither.

And as I've said to the many, Hillary must be an extremely powerful woman to have done all of this stuff and been convicted of nothing. Makes it sound like a bunch of Alex Jones type conspiracy theories with no foundation in reality.

What is wrong with these folks? Did they really think that no one would catch the illegal use of $300,000 during a Presidential campaign?

Please cite the US Code that makes spending campaign funds on a campaign illegal.

When I was in West Virginia - our Congressman owed some radio stations -
He used campaign funds to advertise his election on his stations

But he never bought any time on my station.

    From the article:

Trump houses his campaign headquarters in Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan, where the campaign pays $169,758 a month for office space at about $100 per square foot. (The Clinton campaign, in contrast, rents two floors in a Brooklyn Heights office building for about $32 per square foot.)

Trump paid his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach $423,373 on the same day in May that his campaign finalized a deal with the RNC that began bringing him hundreds of millions of dollars of outside donations ― even though the only events he’d held there were two victory parties and an afternoon news conference two months earlier. He could have held those three events at nearby hotels for a total of about $40,000.

The Republican candidate spends 10X the amount of money on hotels than he could have, and spends 3X more on office space than the Democrats, in order to enrich himself. And he claims he's going to cut spending and root out fraud? That's snooze-worthy?

...and who pays for Hillary's campaign expenses?? In fact, has Hillary spent a dime of "her own money" on her campaign? Actually seems pretty strange to even want to mention where money has come from and goes when it comes to a comparison between the 2 candidates. Especially, considering Hillary has 300m in her personal account - to which one has to ask: Exactly what products did Hillary sell to make all this money??? - What business was she in??? - Ah, that right, we all know, she has been in the business of selling out America!!

So go ahead and complain about Trump upgrading from a roach motel but also know the level of hypocrisy behind it when you do...

The Marriott West Palm Beach is a roach motel? Hmm...

Trump is spending his own money on the campaign? That's news to a lot of people. What's he spending it on? MAGA hats. Website design. How about TV ads in battleground states? Nope, not so much.

Trump announced yesterday that he was no longer going to do fundraisers. Which means he's abandoning the down ballot candidates in the US Senate and US House.

You're talking to wrong person. I am in 100% support of #DrainTheSwamp - and that means on both sides. Let the turncoat do-nothing establishment elitist make their own ways...
