An embattled Donald Trump urgently rallied his most visible supporters to defend his attacks on a federal judge's Mexican ancestry during a conference call on Monday in which he ordered them to question the judge's credibility and impugn reporters as racists.

When former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer interrupted the discussion to inform Trump that his own campaign had asked surrogates to stop talking about the lawsuit in an e-mail on Sunday, Trump repeatedly demanded to know who sent the memo, and immediately overruled his staff.

"Take that order and throw it the hell out," Trump said.

A clearly irritated Trump told his supporters to attack journalists who ask questions about the lawsuit and his comments about the judge.

"The people asking the questions—those are the racists," Trump said. "I would go at 'em."

Trump is going to be one weird President. He reminds some people of Spiro Agnew, only worse.

He makes a racist comment about a judge and then he berates his staff for not backing him up.

I thought Trump surrounded himself with the best people?

I wonder how many taco salads he's going to have to eat to get back into the good graces of Hispanics?

That he was ever in the good graces of Hispanics is as much a figment of his imagination as is his supposed superior intellect. He talks like a two-bit con man that people have to be half stupid and half catatonic to believe.

Let's allow House Speaker Paul Ryan to speak to this:
Mr. Trump has said that the judge has given unfair rulings because he ( Trump) wants to build a wall and take business from Mexico and the judge is of "Mexican " heritage. He has said the judge should recuse himself because of his Mexican heritage.

His comment assumes that neither this judge nor any other judge will competently give him a fair trial if he has offended their heritage. He's offended everyone except white men.

I think his comment displays the great level of racial prejudice and bigotry(not racism) through which he makes a lot of his comments.

Although I can see how a case of racism could be brought by implying that anyone other than a white male would be incapable of doing the job and should recuse themselves because they aren't white.

That is essentially a round about way( and it's good that people re starting to recognize his wordspeak for what it is) of saying I don't think you're qualified to judge my case because you're not white. And I should have the power as a white man to get you to have to recuse yourself because of your Mexican heritage.

    THAT is racist.

The other thing about the Mexican heritage is that Trump assumes the judge would be biased because Trump is promising to build a wall on the Mexican border. So? Do we know the judge, who is a second generation American born in Indiana, opposes the building of the wall? And even if he does oppose the building of the wall, that doesn't mean he's automatically biased against Trump in his case with Trump U.

United States District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel, the man presiding over the class-action lawsuit against Trump University, is a member of the La Raza Lawyers of San Diego and oversaw the gift of a law school scholarship to an illegal alien.

In his 2011 judicial questionnaire to become a federal judge, Curiel revealed his history with La Raza. GotNews.com originally reported this Tuesday, and The Daily Caller has independently verified.

Curiel lists “La Raza Lawyers of San Diego” as a legal association he has been a part of in the questionnaire. Curiel’s office at the United States District Court for the Southern District of California confirmed to TheDC the judge’s membership in the group.

The Dishonest Attempt to Associate Gonzalo Curiel with “La Raza”

Trump and certain lazy/dishonest conservative bloggers have attempted to affiliate Curiel with “La Raza.”

What they are attempting to do is associate Curiel with the National Council of La Raza, the radical left-wing and pro-illegal-immigration group that has gained significant notoriety in the news over the years as a group that is both anti-American and open to fomenting violent pro-immigration protests.

Curiel, however, has no affiliation with this group whatsoever. He is a member of La Raza Lawyers of California – aka the Latino Bar Association of California. They have absolutely no affiliation with National Council of La Raza. As far as I can tell, they appear to be a pretty garden variety special interest lawyers association. Every state has these chapters for Hispanic lawyers, black lawyers, women lawyers, Mormon lawyers, Christian lawyers, Jewish lawyers – you name it, there is a lawyer association for it in every state. They have meetings, everyone comes and eat lunch together, and they serve pretty much exclusively the function of networking, which is the lifeblood of legal business generation.

Maybe you find the existence of these groups distasteful and tacky, but that’s a separate point. The point is, no, Judge Curiel is not a member of or affiliated with the radical leftwing group that conservatives have come to know and hate, in spite of the surface level similarity of name.

Sure, some of the criticism is wrong. But not this time. And it doesn't help that Trumpies make up lies about the opposition. This judge is not a member of the radical leftwing La Raza group. The DrudgeBart publications of the world know this, yet still print their lies.

I saw this on Twitter today, purporting to show a Trump supporter that was attacked by liberal protesters:

    Trump Violent Protesters.JPG

Problem was, the photo was a copy-and-paste job from the Daily Mail showing an actress in makeup in a horror movie.

So now it's stupid to think La Raza Lawyers is affiliated with La Raza?

On their own "links and affiliates" page, they are listed:

    http://larazalawyers.net/id3.html

this one #neverTrump person says they're not affiliated, well, are they are they not?

Gonzalo Curiel, the Trump University judge, told the Senate Judiciary Committee that he was a member of the National Hispanic Bar Association.

"The HNBA calls for a boycott of all of Trump business ventures, including golf courses, hotels, and restaurants. We salute NBC/Universal, Univision and Macy’s for ending their association with Trump, and we join them in standing up against bigotry and racist rhetoric. Other businesses and corporations should follow the lead of NBC/Universal, Univision and Macy’s and take similar actions against Donald Trump’s business interests. We can and will make a difference."

That is a pretty clear conflict of interest.

OK, so why doesn't Trump say, "Judge Curiel is a member of an organization that has called for a boycott of all of my business ventures, therefore he should be recused from the case." He doesn't need to bring up the judge's ethnicity in the slightest. Instead he says the judge "is a hater, is a Mexican".

So, either Trump is racist, or stupid, or both.

Why have Paul Ryan and McConnell, or any of the MSM not pointed out the conflict of interest? It is out there plain as day but they refuse to acknowledge it. Could it be that they have no interest in helping the GOP nominee?

There are two separate organizations with La Raza in their name. There is the La Raza lawyers association which Judge Curiel is affiliated with, and the National Council of La Raza, the leftwing activist group, which the judge is not affiliated with.

No, Light, it's the second statement below that I question:

They absolutely do, according to their own website.

Curiel is a member of a pro-Hispanic attorney group with a VERY racist name with hundreds of "affiliates":

    http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/printgroupProfile.asp?grpid=153

And the police chief of San Jose IS a member of NLRC and he is the one that gave the stand-down order and forced Trump rally attendees to go right past the "protesters". One of them - a Minnesota Somali flew there just for that and posted his beat-down youtube online. I'd like to see them try that trash is somewhere like Texas or Kansas.

Trump is anything but stupid - this should be Hillary's day but everybody is talking about him and that's no coincidence.

    Yeah, me too.

Meet The Pro-Illegal Immigrant Groups The La Raza Lawyers Of San Diego Consider Part Of Their ‘Community’

Nah, no reason to believe a lawyer's group with "La Raza" in their title is involved with racial issues or might be biased. :Rolleyes

The Spanish term La Raza translates as "the Race", Spanish raza having the meaning of "race, ethnicity; breed, strain, lineage".
