US Census American Community Survey

    Anyone else get one of these surveys to fill out? I got one a few weeks back and lost it and never got it returned. Today I get another one and am told that I am required by law to respond to this survey. Really? They do not even have my name on the envelope, it is addressed to "Resident".

    Is this "required by Law" statement just a scare tactic to get people to return it?

    This thing is rather large and I have no desire to fill it out. But I also do not want to get in trouble with the Law. Curious if any of you have any experience with this thing...

    Yes, you are required by law to fill it out. 13 USC 221 provides for CRIMINAL penalties if you refuse or willfully neglect to do so. The ACS is vital for providing the government with information they need to do their jobs.

    Vital? After reading through the 28 pages of questions I find that really hard to believe.
