Why bother with the differences in the editions of the AV? That is a typical Alexandrian hobby-horse. Why not address the differences in today's "bibles" and the KJB? Such as John 1:18 and 1 Timothy 3:16!

Because you KJVOs say "Things that are different are not the same".

Why not address the differences in today's "bibles" and the KJB? Such as John 1:18 and 1 Timothy 3:16!

Because we haven't gotten past the issue of the differences between KJV editions/revisions yet. The internal issues must be resolved before messing with the external ones.

And the issues you mention above have been covered in earlier threads. It's merely a few differences in translational style and a few words' differences in the source mss, nothing more.

As Veep of Ruckman's Anti-Alex org you shoulda known that. Methinks ya DID know that, butcha wanted to muddy up the waters again with that same ole schtick.

    Differences between different English
versions of the Bible are believed by
us Freedom Readers to be resolvable. Each person must resolve
the differences by themselves, but it is good to talk to other
people who are also spirit guided.

Caveat, the following list is not exclusive but suggestive only.
So if you want your name on it, chime in, I wasn't mad at you.

Some of the Freedom Readers guided by the Holy Spirit who post here
in this Forum are: C4K (KJV prefered), Keith M,
Robycop3 (AKA: Cranston), HankD, Logos1560, Tinytim, and
    Franklinmonroe.

I messed up Ed; I voted for those I think is valid instead of invalid. I wonder what the Lord will think!

I won't be able to face any of my friends anymore. :)

Not surprising, is it? The ones who make the most smoke have the least fire.

    oops???
apparently you are the third person to mention that.
So we have more messing up the poll by error than by
    design

    My conclusion still stands:
any group of Baptists can decide which are the valid
and which are the invalid bibles -- this includes random
    BB members

BTW, God will forgive you according to 1 John 1:9 - but you have to
repent and promise not to do it no more.

    1 John 1:9 (KJV1611 Edition):
If we confesse our sinnes, hee is faithfull, & iust to forgiue vs our sinnes,
and to cleanse vs from all vnrighteousnesse.

I agree to a point. However, the format possible that is
allowed by the software precludes more than ten opitions.

Again: I picked ten Bibles (THE MESSAGE was just the
New Testament) that I have on the shelves around my
    comptuer monitor (new flat screen).

I agree. What is true is still true where ever it is found. I would not recommend some versions to new converts; but if I were stranded upon a desert isle I would rather have a Jerusalem Bible or a Douay-Rheims than no Bible at all.

There will be a mixture of reasons for the poll results as some will vote for versions they feel are falsely based, and others will vote for only those that they feel are faultily reasoned.

I know that I am in no position to judge what God will, or will not, use for His purpose.

Amen, Brother Franklinmonroe -- You are so RIGHT ON!

Did you know you click on the any of the 'number of votes' entries
and see who voted what? Recall three folk admitted in the
topic that that had voted backward: the ones with the most votes
are INVALID, the ones with the least votes are VALID.

In excess of 66% (2/3) of the voters say the following
    books make invalid Bibles:

    he Message by Peterson
    Reader's Digest Bible
    BWT = New World Translation

Less than 33% (1/3) of the voters say the following
Bibles are not invalid (i.e. are valid):

    Geneva Bible of 1587
    KJV1611 Edition
    KJV1762 Edition
    KJV1873 Edition
NASB = New American Standard Bible
    NIV = New International Version
    ESV = English Standard Version

If there wasn't an attempt to bias the poll by
'one&only-one-bible-ists' the poll would have been more
extream. But there is enough valid votes here to show
a definate trend: Baptists know how to tell which books
are valid Bibles and which books are invalid Bibles.

Is this Bible democracy or Bible Republic?
Can votes decide on the truth?

I havent posted on this board in a couple of years; but i'm postin now. The last discussion i was involved in here had to do with the "Mithra" (sp) faith..........Truthfully speaking, I was shaken when I started investigating the mithras. But, My faith remains strong.

I haven't voted in the poll yet and i have only read some of the posts here, but I have looked at the NWT, not extensively, and though not mentioned, the joseph smith version. Not enough at either one to argue about either one, but enough to know I wont use them, And wont advocate their use.

I use the KJV, not because of it's accuracy; but because i like how it reads and i believe it's good. I'll not slander the others today for i am not that learned a man, forgive me.

I will say this though, In my limited studies, it seems as though no translation is absolutley accurate; but I can find salvation in most of them..............

    It's good to be back, I think.:tonofbricks:
