If someone comes to you sharing a problem they have with cheating on their wife do you say the same thing? How about liars?

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Where does it say that he apologized for "making that statement"?

This is like when someone calls you a racist and you say, "I'm not a racist, I have a bunch of Mexican friends", RW is nothing more than a people pleasing coward who can't take a firm stance on ANYTHING. He is doing nothing more but helping set the stage for a one world religion while Obama gets the global government lined up. Its great!!!

    It's in the transcript.

So...he wrote a note to the members. Then he apologized. Don't try and tell me that he apologized for someone else making him something he wasn't. Why would he apologize for something he didn't do?

Actually its not just about Warren. I don't understand how misquoting someone, lambasting them as people, and calling them all kinds of names glorifies God's name.

I do appreciate Rev Warren's ministry. I appreciate him as a follower of Christ and leader in our culture. That said I don't care much for his model. Seems to silly for our use in this context.

Where have I misquoted him? Lambasted him? Or called him a name? Please show me.

You're basically calling him a liar right here, matt!

No..that isn't calling him a liar. All I said was he made a statement to one group of people then he apologized to another group of people for making that statement. What does that have to do with lying?

Earlier in the thread I did call him a liar when he said that he had never made a statement about prop 8.

Did RW ever claim to be America's pastor? If so, I've never heard it.

If it's the liberal media calling him that, we're supposed to take what they say as the truth?

RW is the pastor of Saddleback church. Just as soon as my church and I lead as many to faith in Christ as he and his church have, then I might be qualified to start tossing stones. 'Til then, I'm keeping my rocks in my pocket.

As that great theologian tinytim so eloquently said,

    "Who cares what RW thinks..

Preach the word to your own congregation, and watch God work!"

This is a debate forum. A good number of pastors and or theologians are brought up for discussion based on their biblical view on a great many things. But RW is off limits...................sigh

    Let's not forget our place

As far as his numbers as to how many he or his church has won to the Lord no one can know. The numbers of those who have entered the churches doors only tell that and nothing more. But the are certainly entertained by the great amount of "culture" going on in that church aren't they.

Right on target. All the endless posts about individual pastors, and quite honestly, I doubt the majority on either side knows what they are talking about. If one does not like Rick Warren or his preaching, then there is an off button on your radio, TV, and remote. Pushing a button is much easier than endlessly flapping jaws. Last time I checked, no one was forced to either go to his church or listen to him.

It is a debate forum. If you do not want to debate the issue don't open the thread on your computer.

It doesn't matter what is said. If you support him it will be mudslinging in your world. Especially when it comes to RW.

    Mudslinging= I don't like it

I think that he is certainly controversial. Several news media on the net state the man believes Islam and Christianity worship the same God. If true and of course the news media isn't always true. Then I would certainly distance myself from him.
We should never silence news of any pastor. Like when that pastor of the New life church was found out to be a Homosexual. Should we investigate or not before attending the church with someone like that as a pastor.
I believe what a pastor preaches should be known don't you? At least before you attend his church. How many have or have not been saved isn't a measure of the man's righteousness is it. Not even the size of his church tells us anything about him. After all look at the size of the Catholic church. It being the largest certainly doesn't mean what the Pope says is straight from the mouth of God.
I don't think we should crucify him based on rumors but when suspicion arises we certainly should check it out just to be sure.

The truth is, there are very few indeed that preach the truth. That we need to be aware of.

It is a forum that I can choose to respond to in any manner appropriate as long as it does not violate the guidelines. There is a difference between debate as in an honest exchange of ideas and an exchange of angry barbs. I would think someone in the ministry could see the difference.

    Rule 3 applies to everyone.

    3. Show grace to the other posters. When someone disagrees with you, discuss it; but be slow to offend, and eager to get into the Word and find the answers. Remember, when discussing passionate issues, it is easy to go too far and offend. Further, if we are "earnestly contending for the faith" it would be unrealistic not to expect at times to be misunderstood or even ridiculed. But please note that your words can sometimes be harsh if used in the wrong way. The anger of man worketh not the righteousness of God

Yes, I agree we must be aware of what a pastor preaches. If we have determined as lead by the Spirit that the pastor is way off in left field as in the examples you give, then I would not listen to him. The case here is everyone has already made up their mind about Mr. Warren and are merely throwing barbs back and forth. No one is going to change anyone's mind.

I tend to stay away from the electronic pastors of any stripe, as there is plenty of preaching and teaching in my local church. Thank you for the civil response.

Really...it doesn't matter what is said? Have you even read my posts here? Mudslinging is mudslinging, regardless of who likes or dislikes who.
