I was already growing concerned about this forum being shut down due to uncivility among posters and then LadyEagle mentioned the possibility. It would be a real shame if this forum was shut down as a couple of others have been on this board.

We can all do a better job of debating the issues in a Christian manner and cutting out the personal attack barbs - things that we would never say to another person face to face but that we have no qualms about doing in this forum.

Bear in mind that if we don't like the tone of an opinion piece that the idea is to debate the subject of the opinion piece not the character of the poster. We are not running for election in this forum. Let's debate about the issues, not about the posters.

So let's all try to do a better job in this area before we lose the privilege of debating political issues on this board altogether.

I don't often post on the politics board, but I do read it. I'd hate to see it shut down.

Perhaps a good place to start would be for you to stop trying to demonize conservatives and our president with your goofy conspiracy theories.

I agree there is a limit Ken but as Mike points out... a large part of it is "whose ox is being gored" type stuff.

Okay. I will certainly try to not demonize conservatives. I don't recall advocating any conspiracy theories, but if I have done so I will try to stop.

I would prefer to have to tone down my rhetoric for the good of continuing this forum than to have this forum continue in the vein where posters are at each other's throats and see this forum closed down.

If the Politics forum gets to the point where it is getting so uncivil( when is it not) may I sugggest cutting the pages down to 5 if it still persits then cut it to 3, finally if it cannot be resolved then remove it.

Well, I am as guilty of anyone of back and forth. Yes, I am guilty of being uncivil, but not without cause. Ken, this post being started by you is especially appreciated.

But then you people would have to stop demonizing liberals and former presidents - then where would the fun go?

I say just stick to the rules and no attacking fellow posters. Gore their oxes, but at least pretend to respect the poster.

It's hard to demonize conservatives these days when there are so few of them to be found and when they are the so called conservatives of today are the first to start throwing stones at them. Those that would call themselves conservative and still be willing to back the Bush/Clinton/CFR New World Order are being anything but conservative imho.

Ron Paul has probably the most conservative voting record in congress today and listen to how todays "conservatives" demonize him. I suspect that because Ken reads columns by real conservatives like Paul Craig Roberts and Ron Paul he is supposed to be a conspiracy theorist by todays "conservative" standards. That just goes to show how effective the NWO propaganda has been.

KenH a conspiracy theorist? Not by a long shot. A patritot yes. CT? No way!

Ken certainly embraces some insane and crazy ideas of conspiracy theorists. But, you are right. He is not a true conspiracy nut like you.

Hey now! I'm not running for political office. [IMG]

Let's start confining our comments to the issues and real politicians and other public figures, not toward me, poncho, Joseph, or any other poster.

In order to preserve this forum, maybe we need to start a Yahoo! Group called "Political Death Match" where no holds would be barred and we could attack each other all
out and get it out of our system. [IMG]

Really? Which insane and crazy ideas of conspiracy theorists does he embrace Joseph? Please explain.

Now just because I'm sticking up for you on this one issue Ken don't get the wrong idea and think I'd vote for you if you were running for office. You'd have to denounce the CFR and Trilaterals first. :D

Here Joseph is attacking the ideas, which is ok.

But here he is attacking the poster personally by labeling him a "nut", which is not ok.

Fortunately, Poncho is good-humored enough to take it in stride. Instead of attacking Joseph, he defends KenH. [IMG]

I witness the same behavior in the other forums that are set up for theological debate/discussions. Lots of haughtiness no matter what the particular forum. Very unbecoming of Christians.

Politics and Religion have a tendency to bring out the ugliness in us.

And what is your sentence about?
That's not what vanity is...If I were to post that I behave better than others, that would be vanity.
