I'm just gonna retract this post. But I would like to discuss the individual topics. But not my personal issues with individuals over them. Please see post #8

Have you spoken to your pastor about how you feel?

Concerning Wednesday nights, what happens on Wednesday nights? Is it a prayer meeting? If it is maybe he thinks that the church ought to pray together. Not sure in what way Johnny Mac or Chick Tracts has anything to do with Wednesday night services.

Looks like you have issues with your pastor, not on a personal level but on the level of fundamental beliefs about how to do church. Is he taking the church in a new direction to the displeasure of many members? If so, maybe it's time to bring it up your concerns in business meeting. But if you are the only one who is bothered by "compulsory attendance" on Wed. night, tithing sermons, Chick tracts, etc., you need to either change your attitude or change churches.

Your post reminds me of the difficulties my parents were having in their church in the 1960's. After about five years of unhappiness, they joined a Church of Christ and served there faithfully and happily the rest of their lives.

It seems you are taking an issue you have with your pastor and local church and voicing it out to the entire world. You do realize that you have your church listed on your profile and now we all know exactly what church you go to and the name of the pastor in question, right? That's not a great way to handle things. You should be dealing with this on a personal level with your pastor, deacons, and church....not the Internet.

I've been where you are, Tater, it it ain't no fun. I went to my pastor and talked with him about my concerns and the problems I was having, but I didn't just barge in and demand answers. I got together with him and asked questions about the things that bothered me so as to get his "side" of things, and then I offered him my take. I did it all in a kind spirit, mind you. By the end of the meeting it was rather obvious that he and I saw things in completely different ways, and he was not surprised when I took my family elsewhere shortly thereafter.

Pray hard, and then go to your pastor. Ask him the "why?" questions. If the Lord leads, give him your side. You may find your answers, or you may find that the Lord gives you liberty to move on.

Maybe that's why he is emphasizing it. If you can't go, you can't go. I talk about Wednesday night in every set of announcements because the early church met alot to pray.

You still haven't said if you have spoken with your pastor. You have strong differences with where he believes the Lord is leading the church, talk it over with him alone between the 2 of you like the Scriptures commands.

    Tater,
I don't thnk anyone is saying that at all. First of all, you're not dealing with it. You list more problems with your pastor each time you post. We're asking you to talk with your pastor. Seemingly this is a long standing issue. You asked for us to comment. We did. The answers may not be to your liking, but you asked.

    Yes I did.

But your right I do need to deal with these things (in grace and love). I guess I should have started discussions on the topics themselves. After all, its the topics themselves that give me trouble, not the person. He is very reasonable and will consider what I have to say. I just need to figure out how to bring them up.
