Ah yes, as compared to the always sweet, gracious, loving, Christlike spirit of all KJVOs.

Amen, Brother C4K - Preach it!

    According to this Topic:

    KJVO definitions

    I'm KJVO#2.

I use two different KJVs on a daily basis for personal
devotions and for public (mostly BB) comentary::

    1. The KJV1611 Edition. I especially like the inerrant
Translators Sidenotes which show that the translators
of the KJV had multiple different TRs from which they
    determined what their source was.

    2. The KJV1769 Edition. This has the Tim LaHaye notes
( errant commentary) mostly on the pretribulation rapture.

I'm sorry PhatCat, if it seems like those who believe that modern version users have a chip on their shoulders.

We are just absolutely sick of being mischaracterized, maligned, accused of blasphemy, idolatry, and apostasy, and patronized. We are sick of being treated like infidels and heretics whenever we confess the same faith that the KJVOs do.

We are just doing the best we can to defend the reputations and work of honorable men whose names are not only dragged through the mud but are also spat upon, kicked, and burned on the altar of "purity."

I'm not saying that any one side is perfect in its conduct, but there is a consistency.

    KJVO side:
"I understand your position... here's my position [IMG] "

    MV side:
"YOUR POSITION IS WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! YOU'RE UNEDUMACATED! YOU'RE A IGNORAMOUS! "

    KJVO side:
"Here are the verses that speak to my heart about my position... [IMG] "

    MV side:
"THOSE VERSES DON'T MEAN THAT. THEY MEAN SOMETHING ELSE! YOUR HAVE NO EDUCATION- YOU DON'T STUDY- YOU ARE REPEATING SOMEONE ELSE'S... "

    KJVO side:
" I believe the Holy Spirit led me to... [IMG] "

    MV side:
"YOU WOULDN'T KNOW THE HOLY SPIRIT IF HE SLAPPED YOU UPSIDE YO HEAD! YOU'RE UNINFORMED, BRAINWASHED, INTELLECTUALLY INJURED, YOU DON'T KNOW JACK! "

Again, this is only a representation of the majority on both sides.

Ah yes, like I said the KJVOers are always sweet and godly in their demeanour and those who are not KJVO are always mean, spiteful, and hateful.

Methinks phatcat only chooses to see one side of the coin.

There is plenty of guilt to share on both sides of this ascriptural issue and it is an issue that is dividing the body of Christ.

You are correct and I have issued an apology on the BV forum for my part in it.

But I do see it this way even if I exaggerated (for humor purposes :D )

Not that I want to help drag this down further... [IMG] ...but I think many of us KJVOers feel more threatened here because when we share our views and then ARE attacked we do not then get defended by anyone else.....for the most part.

C4K, Ive never seen you be anything less than polite, but as you said, there are problems with discussing this issue.

I know I don't go in the BV forum mostly because I feel that my viewpoint is not tolerated by the majority, and I would only be ridiculed. But its not really the ridicule that hurts, because that is only done by a few individuals. Rather it is that I am pretty sure those "standing by" would remain silent.

I can still say that I cherish my KJV, and I do not feel as if Im really reading the BIble if I read another version. It doesn't "sound" right to me, and I will run over to my KJV just to compare and see what it says in that verse. Usually I find my KJ to be less confusing, as well.

You know what might help? If those of us that use other versions would stand up for a KJVO person that is being attacked.

An attack is wrong no matter what side of the issue you are on.

Thank you Bapmon. I will do my part in defending a KJVO from attack... I might not agree with the KJVO position, but I care about the person more than being right about the issue.

As one who seldom posts in this neck of the woods, I start the serious eye-rolling when either of the following occurs:

    (1) Salvations are questioned (or carnality is assigned) based on the version used.
    (2) The emphasis is not upon "Why I like my version" but is more on "Why I hate yours."

And (once again, I'm a regular poster, but seldom here), yep...I've seen guilty parties from our 1611 crowd AND our 20th-century crew.

Bapmom, I use only the KJV in English but I am not KJVO. And when I read what you wrote above, I thought to my self that there are probably dozens of folks who use various MV's who would say the same thing you do in reverse.

Well, I guess I am off topic now... [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

According to one definition of the term I too am KJVO - it is the only version I use in teaching and preaching.

Nobody should call themself a KJO if that particular translation is really only a matter of preference or settled conviction . Being a KJO advocate has certain ideas attached -- such as being irrational and extreme . KJP better describes a more mature perspective .
