    Hello!
    Can you read

No place does this athiest propaganda
    claim that Susan B. Anthony
is an athiest. It does say she lead the "great Atheist fighters of the suffrage movement"
but she lead also the great Christian fighters
of the suffrage movement, the great agnostic
fighters of the suffrage movement, and the
great Jewish fighters of the suffrage movement.

As for the phrase "This great American Atheist",
it refers to the ORGANIZATION making the statement, not to Susan B. Anthony.

Coming out of a patriarchial society, such as the UK was/is, the world was ripe for feminism. As an example, there is a law, still on the books, in London that a man cannot beat his wife after 9:pM. The law suggests it is alright before 9, but not after 9. Actually, it is a noise violation, but written in pre-feminism times.

I doubt very much if anyone can apply the definition of Susan B. Anthony feminism or even Betty Friedan to-day. The whole scene has changed, and some of the early people might even be embarrassed by what some call feminism to-day.

Didn't Abraham Lincoln say something about "All men (generic) are created equal"? And this was foundational to the constitution.

I may give direction to my wife, but never tell her what to do. She just might give me directions, and a road map.

    Cheers,

    Jim

One last thing that I want to add:

Susan B. Anthony also said the following:

"The religious persecution of the ages has been done under what was claimed to be the command of God."

I don't think she said this because she didn't believe in God. I think she said this because it is a true statement according to history.

while you have no problem defending women in theory, apparently you have no problem being abusive toward them in real life when they disagree with you.

edifier, as a christian gentleman you should apologize and ask her forgiveness.

ps - we all get angry sometimes and say things we don't mean, that's the case here, right?

I believe that I deserve the same pay as any male counterpart for the same work. And I believe that being female is not something that I should be ashamed of or made to feel is less than human, unworthy, more sinful, less intelligent, or sexually confused etc.

Even though I fit the description in the dictionary, I would prefer it if no one called me "femenist", as I don't think the people that use the term really care what it really means or indeed mean it to be complimentary when they attach the label to a person.

no, he insulted her intelligence - "hello! CAN you read?" if that's exactly the kind of thing you'd often like to say i'm glad you typically show more self control than brother edifier did this time.

    Brother Timothy 1769 [IMG]

Does your computer show similey faces?

You will note that in Edifier's post, he used a confused smiley face  which shows confusion on his part, not abuse toward someone, nor anger in disagreement with someone. It does not insult anyone's intelligence.

I know Brother Edifier very well [IMG] and know that he is never abusive and very, very slow to anger. He would never insult anyone. [IMG]

I agree with you that HCL is a very intelligent woman who knows her Bible and I respect her for her personal convictions even though they are not mine. [IMG]

That list looks more like Islam than Christianity's view of women.
