    From the free Dictionary

    Sovereignty
The supreme, absolute, and uncontrollable power by which an independent state is governed and from which all specific political powers are derived; the intentional independence of a state, combined with the right and power of regulating its internal affairs without foreign interference.
Sovereignty is the power of a state to do everything necessary to govern itself, such as making, executing, and applying laws; imposing and collecting taxes; making war and peace; and forming treaties or engaging in commerce with foreign nations

True, but they have agreed in those same treaties to submit to U.S. federal authority, placing themselves essentially in "ward of the state" status.

What is a sovereign nation? Fast forward this video to 1 hour 34 minutes. For some clues.

What is a birth certificate? (1 hour 42 minutes.) A document establishing ownership.

What is a person? (1 hour 56 minutes) A fictional corporate entity.

Is the United States a sovereign nation? No, not since it's incorporation in 1871.
