What is hell?

    Recently I heard someone say, "Hell is the absence of anything good." What are your thoughts?

    The eternal place of torment absent the aid of God. Beyond that I have no description.

    Hell is Dying and Finally Realizing that...

    ... the information about Jesus, salvation, sin, the need for personal repentance, hell, Satan and its demonic minions and the wrath and judgment of God were real; and, that due to your wrong choices, made during your life, you had made the wrong choices your entire life, and are now going to be cast into that eternal lake of fire !!!

    Then to spend an eternity knowing that you missed out on, scoffed at, mocked, and turned your heart in a direction away from God's love and eternal life, would be adequate punishment for a lifetime of rejecting the love of Jesus (regardless of the reasons) ones eternal life.

    Of course, this is my humble opinion, but, I believe it to be true view.

    Hell is being on the wrong side--the Godless side--of that "Great Gulf Fixed"

    Mark 9:43-44 ...into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

    "The two figures depict hell as a state of decay which is never completed and of burning which does not consume. Some regard the worm as a symbol of the gnawings of remorse, and the fire as a symbol of actual punishment." (TFG Commentary)

    Revelation 20:10 ... the lake of fire and brimstone...tormented day and night for ever and ever.

    Torment day & night, extreme remorse with no recourse, no rest or comfort and total absence from the presence of God - sounds like a place to shun, a place i want no part of.

    Thank God for His salvation in Jesus Christ!!
