What is the real reason to pursue a Doctorate?

    That is where personal study with commnetaries and the Bible come together. The degree is training in how to teach certain things and the professors personal opinion of doctrines, we are to:
    Study to shew ourselves approved and we are to test the spirit that teaches us.

    I suggest then that you also begin authoring books. Wouldn't that be the best & most popular way to display your intellectual abilities?

    Since my bible knowledge comes from God through study I see no need to write books, however if I felt lead to do so I would. While popular that takes a lot of time, time I don't have enough of right now to write. What with working away from home, studying for my thM and all there is no time for that too not yet, so day if God leads I might write a book, but not right now. Although I do have one started just haven't found time to work on it in a while.

    Thanks for the advice and encouragement though.
