    well, you heard the topic...

I am not asking which version of the Bible you use (eg kjv, niv nlt)

I want to know (pastors) which study bible you prefer (eg thompsons chain reference, king james study/commentary bible)?

    Well, I'm not a pastor...yet. But I will post my answer(s).

By far and away I use my MacArthur's Study Bible more than any other bible in my possession. MacArthur's notes are clear, concise, and conservative. I really love the reference system that is in it, and the topical index in the back comes in real handy at times.

I also use my Hebrew Greek Key Study Bible (they are called The Keyword Study Bible now) quite a bit. Zodhiates' "Lexical Aids To The New Testament" are worth the price of the bible all by themselves.

And (yes, AND) I use a Comparative Study Bible that has the King James, the Amplified, the New American Standard, and the New International Version side-by-side-by-side-by-side. It allows me to get a much more in-depth look at a passage without all the flipping between translations.

    In Christ,
    Trotter

Zondervan's NIV Study Bible, also available in NASB and KJV is excellent. The Disciple's Study Bible from Broadman/Holman is quite good. The study notes in the Reformation Study Bible are indispensable. The new Spirit of the Reformation study Bible is not bad.

I personally like my thompsons chain reference, my king james study bible and my scoffield reference bible. I also occasionally use an niv rainbow study bible for topical lessons.

Have used a Scofield for years, but notes are not used that often. Use e-sword on the pc and olivetree on the ppc and between the two seldom touch a printed Bible anymore.

None, I honestly can't remember the last time I used a study bible, although I have a Harpers (NRSV), NIV Study Bible, Geneva (NKJV), Ryrie (NASB), and Scofield. I would much rather use a specifc book commentary written by an author I have grown to trust or is recommended.
