When actor Jim Caviezel sat down in front of the congregation at Rock Church, they had no idea what was about to hit them. During the 40 minute interview session, Caviezel repeatedly went off script, passionately exhorting his listeners not to be happy with mediocrity, but to take Christ seriously.

But he was never more passionate than when he spoke about abortion. By the end of this four minute clip, Caviezel is literally weeping, as he reminds his audience of the infinite mercy of God, assuring his listeners that Christ is waiting to accept them, if only they say "yes." An unbelievable speech from an amazing actor.

[video] Watch the whole thing but especially start about the 34 minute mark

    A Catholic Arminian?

All we have to do for Christ to accept us is to "say yes"? What about repentance? What about receiving Christ and His vicarious atonement by faith?

Seriously, I love Person of Interest (it's starting to get a little convoluted this season, but still much better than most shows and a good replacement for 24) and Frequency was pretty good, but this guy's got some pretty bad theology.

Caviziel is well know for being a member of the same branch of Catholicism as Mel Gibson, which is seen as radical, even within Catholicism.

Kirk Cameron once described working with him and said that, when they talked, Caviziel mixed New Age theology in with his Catholicism.

So, unless he's gotten saved in the last year or two, and nothing would make me happier, I'm skeptical.

all due respects, JDF, but I wouldn't be too harsh on guys like Jim Caviezel. Sure, they got a sort of mixed up bimbam here and bimbam there theology, but whoever got it right the first time ?
Even Paul didn't get his zeroed in the first time.
had to have Stephen killed, too.
not even the 12 got it right about Who they were walking, talking, eating, and handling all those 3 something years although every now and then a flash of divine inspiration would show itself, as in the case of Peter's confession of Who Christ is.
Which tells us that one might be (keyword: might) regenerate, and not necessarily know much about his Savior, until the Spirit sets him straight, in His own time.

PS - didn't particularly like the idea of ending Person of Interest with the team on the run.

Nothing would make me happier than to see him saved or to find out that he's a brother in Christ, but has just never been well disciple, or remains in the Catholic Church out of ignorance, but everything I've ever heard the guy say on the subject, as well as what I've heard about him, indicates that his doctrine is so far out of bounds as to disqualify him as a Christian.

And, who knows. Maybe what you're saying is right. I was a false convert and was caught up in social, pop-Christianity, and then, the WoF movement before I was saved, but I wouldn't consider myself from that time a brother in Christ, either.

I don't know. Every time a show introduces some sort of shadowy conspiracy, which seems to be the big thing on TV these days, it jumps the shark. That's what happened with Burn Notice, but Burn Notice managed to turn itself around and get good again.

I didn't like the addition of the two girls, and Fusco is annoying, but they've managed to make it work, so we'll see.
