Where do you all think 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth ranks on the list of all-time Cup Champs? I know this is difficult to answer based on the fact that he is still young, but do you think he is a fluke, or do you feel he will win some more championships before he retires?

    God bless!

Right now he ranks at the bottom. Only won 1 title so far. My answers to the other questions are 'no' and 'maybe'.

I'd say 1 maybe 2 more titles at most.

Kenseth has looked really good the last two races!

I didn't think he'd do much this year - but he's started out with a big bang!

I don't think Kenseth's championship last year was a fluke, he just was able to stay consistent and avoid DNFs until very late in the year. He is a smart driver that doesn't take foolish chances. Of course the reason a lot of people were upset about him winning was because they thought he played it too safe and wasn't trying to win races, just protect his points lead.

Whether he can win another championship is more difficult to answer. A lot of things have to go right for a driver to win. There are a lot of things out of a driver's control like engine or other mechanical problems or another driver losing control in front of your car. There are several really good drivers that have never won even one championship. His teammate Mark Martin immediately comes to mind. I think he will have a chance to win more championships because he is young and a smart driver, but a lot of things have to go right for that to happen. I am still hoping that Jeff Gordon has another one or two championships to win before his career is over. :D

All others WERE champions, but Kenseth IS champion. So, til someone knocks him off, he is #1.

As to the question of whether last year was a fluke? I don't think so. Kenseth has a great knack for staying out of trouble and coming on at the end to get the best possible finish that he can. In NASCAR, that is the the basic stuff of great driving.

Kenseth is a good driver, and has a good team. It's funny that he's dissed becaused he only won one race last season... the year prior he won like 6 or so. He learned then that it's consistency that wins championships, not race wins.

He's got a great shot this year, even with the rules change. Consistency still rules - especially for the first 26 races. Consistency in the last 10 will probably win as long as the driver is running near the front on average.

But there are a lot of things that can derail a good team - and a lot of those can't always be avoided. You can't win if some lapper takes you into the wall at 180mph.
