    Best comeback in baseball:

2004 ALCS - Red Sox down 3-0 against the Yankees and came back to win the series.

    Best comeback in football:

Buffalo was down 35-3 with 13 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter and beat Houston. Houston had dominated the first half, leading 28-3 at the break. Then, with 13 minutes to go in the 3rd, Reich threw a pick that was returned for a TD. At that point, Houston stopped playing, but Buffalo didn't. The Bills were helped by a bad call on the TD that made it 35-17. Beebe had clearly stepped out of bounds going down the field, but the refs didn't see it.

    Best comeback in basketball:

I'm no Kentucky fan, but I seem to remember they came back from something like 30 down once when Pitino was still their coach.

The 2007 Rockies' run into the playoffs was pretty impressive.

The best comeback I remember was a Duke-Carolina game in the 70's. UNC was down by 8 with 13 seconds left. They kept stealing the ball on Duke's inbound pass, tied the game, and won it in overtime.

The resurrection wasn't a comeback - it was God's eternal decree.

The Red Sox comeback in 04 would be the baseball version. Hard to argue with the Bills against the Oilers. UK did come back in 93 or 94 against LSU. Tennessee's coming back from a four touchdown halftime deficit to beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame in 1991 is pretty impressive. The Pacer comeback against the Knicks in 1994, I believe, in the Eastern Playoffs was very impressive (Reggie Miller did it single handedly). The Rocks run to the playoffs this year was remarkable.

What about the Yankees running down the Red Sox in, what was it, '78? (Dent's HR in one-game playoff over the green monster iced the game and gave the Yanks the division).

What about the Mets coming back in game 6 of the '86 Series?

In pro basketball, what about when the Miami Heat came back to beat the Mavericks in the Championship Finals?

Of course, that was back when the Heat were winning.

I had forgotten about the '78 Yankees. They were 14 games back at one point. And Game 6 of the '86 World Series was an incredible comeback.

I would include the Heat's comeback in this list. They were down 2 games to none and I think they were trailing by 13 in the 4th quarter of game 3.

How 'bout Reggie Miller's single-handed 8-point outburst against the Knicks in the final 15 seconds?

I was not born when this happened, but I would have love to have seen it.

    (From Askmen.com)

I think we love come backs in sports because it demonstrates the amazing dirve to keep on competing and keep on striving for victory even though it seems impossible.

The NY Giants chase down of the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1951 was probably the best comeback in baseball pennant races - better than the '78 race, IMO. Then to top it off, you have the comeback in the final playoff game with Thompson's home run.

There was also a race back in 1914 or 15 where the Boston Braves (I think) made an incredible run. I can't say for sure without looking it up.

I think that would be all of the sports. J/K.

The best comeback in football is yet to be seen when the Giants defeat the Patriots. They will not only come back in the game, they will also have a comeback for a season.

This is from my sports calendar for Jan. 27th:

"Trailing 73-54 with nine minutes left, the North Carolina Tar Heels stage a miraculous rally, closing on a 28-4 run to shock Florida State, 82-77, at the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill...In two months, after fashioning a 34-4 record, UNC will win the national championship."

    Champions League (soccer) final 2005
Went into the game having finished 5th in their domestic league
3-0 down at half-time to AC Milan
Then scored 3 times in 6 minutes to draw level
3-3 at the end of extra-time and they won on penalties!
