I've mentioned my blog,Notes in the Key of Life here before, but I was wondering: Are there other Baptist Boarders who have their own blog? I'd love to check it out if you do!

For those who aren't familiar with the term, a blog is a weblog or online journal.

BTW, it's remarkably easy to get your own blog. Mine is through BLOGGER. It's as easy as posting on a forum like this, and it's a fun creative outlet.

I've got one, but I think you've already been there, Cindy. Anyway, it's
    Rebecca Writes.

Blogging is fun, and with blogspot it's easy.

Yes, Rebecca! You have a wonderful blog...you're a lovely writer.

Gayla, a blog is an online journal, short for "weblog." You can post our own thoughts and writings or just whatever you want to say, and it's really easy to do. The blogging host I use is also FREE. [IMG] Check it out here:

Here is another blog I highly recommend: J. Mark Bertrand, who used to show up here on the BB now and then.

Thanks, this thread accomplished two things for me. Never had heard of blog before, and then in the last week for some reason, I seemed to see it everywhere.
Also, I really am glad to see the link to J. Mark Bertrand. I have voted for him in the past for member of the year. He has such a wonderful writing style I find it hard not to envy.

I did check out J. Mark Bertrand's blog, and ended up e-mailing him and got a very nice reply from him. He says he tried to check out the Baptist Board recently, but he couldn't get in--he can't imagine why. What an interesting and well-written blog, though. I recommend it as well.

I just signed up and started my blog. I will mostly just use it as a journal. Mine is very basic, how do I add links and everything else like many of yours to the sides of my pages? And how do I get people to look at it and leave comments? Thanks and God Bless:

Ya'll have inspired me, too. I wondered how to do it and wondered what blog stood for, and now I know, so thanks. Soon, the blog ramblings shall begin and all you fellow citizens on the BB will get a break from my usual ramblings here, LOL. [IMG] [IMG]

It must be a miracle. [IMG]

AFGuy, sorry I took so long to reply!

Here's a site to check out that will give you some info about Christian bloggers:

    http://www.martinrothonline.com/MRCC1.htm

Martin Roth seems to be kind of the unofficial expert on Christian blogging. There are various ways to get people to read your blog. You can link it in the signature line of your e-mail...send out a bulk e-mail to friends and family informing them about your blog...blab about it (as I did) on forums and message boards like this one.

The way I look at it, if I'm going to invest time and thought into what I say and how I say it on my blog, I'd like people to actually read it.

I believe the site I linked for you will also point you to how to get listed in Roth's "blogs 4 God"...and there are other such lists you can get on.

Other pieces of advice I've been given:

    l) visit other people's sites and leave a comment on them, including a link to your own blog

    2) when you read something you especially like on someone else blog, quote briefly from it on your own blog, and provide a link to the other person's blog

    3) update your blog frequently...don't let it sit for days on end without posting; people will get bored and stop checking it

Of course, some people think blogging is just a silly and vain exercise for people who think they're good writers. Granted, some blogs are intensely boring and inane. In my case, I really do love to put my thoughts in words, and I love feedback on what I write. So blogging is perfect for me.

And there are several blogs I check out on a daily basis, simply because I find them interesting, entertaining and/or inspiring.
