    1) Yes, I like them, too. I am going to a Cherryholmes concert in Shreveport tomorrow night with my wife. Maybe I can make a bluegrass fan out of her. :)

    2) No, I haven't heard of them.

    Ps104_33,

What is your definition of "american"? Would you please share it? Don't know about the rest of the folks here but I'd really like to see it.

    Ron Paul Smacks Down Huckabee

Hey scribe, got any idea what a constitutional (within the scope of government's power as authorized by that document...aka supreme law of the land) foreign policy is? Just curious. Huckabee and McCain talk a good game about honor and duty and all but the troops still donate to the Ron Paul campaign more than any other candidate. Got any notions as to why that is?

They signed up to be in the military they knew the risks going in. They have no one to blame but themselves. ;)

    He's not a Republican.

Poncho that's the same video I linked several times already, where Paul doesn't know what he's talking about. We can't cut and run. Paul did nothing but show he's too liberal to be a Republican.

"We should not lose our honor and that is more important than the Republican party!" Huckabee.

    Amen brother Ken!

Check your bible's folks before you cast your support yoking up with unbelievers or those who hold views that condone such things as the slaughter of innocent life.

So as Christians we need to first eliminate those candidates who by their own ommissions disregard God's Holy Word in any area.

Does the candidate follow Jesus Christ? Is he a Christian? The answer to this question covers all other issues concerning the Word of God..... murder, compassion for the oppressed, taxes, marriage, homosexuallity, caring for the poor and needy, protecting God's creation, etc.

A vote is entering into an agreement with the candidate. If the man wins, you are bound to him for a term that only he can break. For the Christian, it is more legally binding than a marriage certificate.

2Cr 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.

2Cr 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Well that's a fine how do you do. Insulting the troops like that. They signed up to protect their country Scribe not to go around enforcing UN mandates and making Iraq safe for privateers. There were no terrorists in Iraq before we invaded. There was only one of our puppet dictators gone rogue. And all that oil, central banking opportunities and state and public holdings now turned over to transnational corporations under the WEFORUM scam of public private partnerships.

    Define "republican". Can you?

Really? How do you know Paul doesn't know what he's talking when he hardly got the chance to speak? Hannity true to form and his "debate style" would ask a question and cut him off. That's being dishonest. Hannity asked about moral highground and if Paul would stand by and let slaughter happen. Check your history. We've done it more often than not when there was slaughter going on. Paul mentioned Pol Pot for one.

Define "liberal". Can you? On that same note define conservative. Can you?

We shouldn't lose our soverignty as a nation either but Mike Huckabee is all in favor of that. Where's the honor in selling your country out? The troops fighting these undeclared "wars" wouldn't lose their honor that's not what bothers Huckabee so much as the big government anti american establishment system he fronts for losing control of your mind. That's what they fear the most.

Where's the honor in arming both sides in a conflict and letting them have at each other so we can install a "friendly" dictator or monarch on the "winning side" Scribe? That is the sum and substance of "our" foreign policy for decades. Where's all this "honor" you and Huckabee and all the rest talk about in all that? Where's the "moral" highground in all that blood?

And don't think I let the fact escape me that you slid right by my question to you in my last post Scribe. The question still stands. I don't think you know the answer. I don't think you know what you are talking about.

I didn't insult the troops. They signed up and they need to do their duty.
My grandfather was drafted he went and did something he didn't sign up to do and he never complained.

If I defined Republican over half of the ones in Washington now would have to change parties. ;)

He had his chance to speak and if you look at the other thread he was the lowest rated ever.

Liberals aren't Christians, they can say they are but they would be lying.
Most are for abortion. Soft on crime and the death penalty, for same-sex marriage.
    Liberal - Conservapedia

We would lose our honor and soverignty if we cut and ran. America cut and ran from Vietnam. Another war they should have thought out better.

    Constitutional foreign policy?

If we went by the Constitution our right to bear arms we wouldn't be limited.

Well, for example, we know what happened in 1979 in Iran was blowback from our federal government overthrowing the elected government of Iran in 1953 and installing the Shah as dictator.

Then I guess that you don't consider Ronald Reagan to have been a Republican.

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is." - Ronald Reagan

Political viewpoints have nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with being a Christian.

Considering all of the warmongering that some conservatives support it might be accurate to say that "conservatives aren't Christians", but I won't say that as it would be as ridiculous of a statement as yours.

Yes, it does. Killing babies, for gay marriage, and so on. All of those things are against the Bible.

Read your Bible in awhile? Remember all the wars God commanded the Israelites to be in? Some times you have to go to war. Stop being a liberal hippie. You should know better.

This is basically why Giuliani and Romney are off my list of people who would get my vote.

The one issue that really gets to me is abortion. There is no compromise. Other issues I might consider the totality of the person, but pro choice is a non starter for me.

When I first started looking at candidates I looked seriously at Fred Thompson. I guess I was hoping that he was the true Reagan conservative that I was looking for. But what had be done in the Senate? Anyone can SAY what they are gonna do... but what have you done?

As I learned more about Huckabee, I studied him. I also looked at all the attacks made against him...'He's not a Reagan conservative' I would hear, so I went back to take a look at Reagan.

What governor increases his budget from 4.6 billion to 10.2 billion over his term in office? HUCKABEE, right? NOPE... Reagan.
What govenor signed the Therapeudic Abortion Act? Gulianni or Romney, Right??? NOPE.... It was Reagan. An estimated 2 million babies were killed during that time. To be fair to Pres Reagan, he later said if he had had more experience as a governor he would not have signed that bill. Would Huckabee ever have signed such a bill.... NOPE.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Reagan and even had the privilege of providing special security for him while I was in the military.. a highlight of my early career. But governing is different than legislating. Did Huckabee raise taxes? Yes, but it was for improving infrastructure that needed fixing such as schools and roads. Education... went from 49th under a guy called Clinton... Huckabee helped his state go up to 8th or 9th.

I watched the debate the other night hoping to maybe see something out of Thompson and I sure did! Instead of describing the legislation that he pushed through the senate or other major accomplishments he made, he attacked Huckabee by reading off his piece of paper calling Huckabee a liberal and part saying he was closer to the democratic party. I was not impressed with Thompson and was shocked to see later that people thought he had won. What are Republicans looking for? Someone who wants to fight and smear or someone who has accomplishments?

My vote at this point will be for Huckabee. I don't agree with everthing that he says, but I do respect him for his accomplishments and that he is not ashamed of his Christian faith.

When I hear an attack against any candidate I research it and look for the facts that I can find.

'He's not a Reagan conservative because he raised taxes as a governor?' So did President Reagan.

'He wants to shut down Quantonimo'... His statement referred to the Supreme Court decision which indicated that there was no difference between there and Levenworth. He also felt that the conditions were too nice at Q.... but no, he's accused of being soft and ignorant on foreign policy... Oh my....

For candidates just TELL ME WHAT YOU'VE DONE... TELL ME WHY YOU DID IT THAT WAY... AND TELL ME WHAT YOU ARE GONNA DO...
Why should I vote for you... not why I shouldn't vote for someone else...

We armed the mujahadeen in the 1980s. After the Soviets left we left also and left a vacuum there. The vacuum was filled by the Taliban who then allied themselves with Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda. After the Gulf War we left our troops in Saudi Arabia. Bin Laden used this as an opportunity to arouse hatred toward these United States and various attacks were carried out during the 1990s culminating in the attacks on 9/11/2001.

We will just have to agree to disagree about this, brother.

Are you claiming that God commanded these United States to invade Iraq and to saber rattle against Iran?

There is no one who is any more pro-military than I am. However, military force needs to be used sparingly and judiciously. We are not Sparta.

I am not a hippie but I am getting a hair cut today.

And you can call me a liberal all you want. I have no problem with that label.

While this wasn't addressed to me, I'd still like to comment. I strongly supported invading Iraq and did so until there were not only no WMD's but, WORSE!, Bush didn't seem to care there were none. Erring on the side of conservatism in a post 9/11 world is readily forgivable so long as one acknowledges that not erring at all is always preferable even to the best of errors... and it's the President's apparent dissent on this point that turned me against him and the war.
