Are we really celebrating the resurrection of Christ or of Easter, the fertility goddess of Babylon? Did the goddess Easter resurrect from the underground on the Spring Equinox?

The pagan worshippers believed she did and worship her every year in the spring with orgies, rabbits and eggs.

Constantine was so anti-Semitic that he forced the Christians to change the name of the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ from "The Feast of First Fruits" Leviticus 23, to Easter. He changed the name to the pagan God Ishtar or Easter. The true Christians never allowed it to change.

God warns us that the church of Antichrist will be a church that claims to be the one true Christian church, but practices the demonic rituals of Babylon.

Revelations 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

The false church looks like the Lamb, but speaks as a LYING, DECEIVING DRAGON (Rev 13:11 / Rev 12:9).

Cardinal Newman admits in his book that; the "temples, incense, oil lamps, votive offerings, holy water, Holidays, and seasons of devotion, processions, blessings of the fields, sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure (of priests, munks and nuns), images, and statues... are all of PAGAN ORIGIN

The penetration of the religion of Babylon became so general and well known that Rome was called the "New Babylon". -Faith of our fathers 1917 ed. Cardinal Gibbons

"In order to attach to Christianity great attraction in the eyes of the
nobility, the priests adopted the outer garments and
adornments which were used in pagan cults."

Did you ever read Kersey Graves' book? There are stories of resurrected saviors from well before Christ was even born: Chrishna, Zoroaster, Mithra, Virishna, Beddou and others. So what? Are you ready to dismiss The Bible as nothing but composite literature from even older religions?

I have to say, though, that I think it is sad how many Christians do not know, or even think about, the supposed significance of The Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs.

I believe the Bible story is 100% REAL.

It is my belief that Satan knew God's plan of redemption for mankind and had it counterfeited from the get-go.

It is possible Lucifer was one of the three arch angles who were closest to God (the others being: Michael and Gabriel) -- and Lucifer sinned and rebelled, and has been trying to DESTROY God and His plan ever since. ---- and deceiving us all the while (Rev. 12:9)

That's why I ask people to be sure they know what they are doing.

Don't be so glib and dismiss the holidays of the Bible (Lev. 23) as being merely Jewish. There may be an evil spirit being who would like you to believe just that, while he deceives us into keeping pagan, satanic holidays.

Our lives are at stake, and Satan would like nothing more than to see God's truth perverted and destroyed AND SEEING OTHERS DISOBEY GOD AS HE DOES.

I celebrate the resurrection of Ed Edwards.
First i have to die, then i'll get resurrected
at the proper time choses by God.
All this is due to the resurrection of
    Jesus.

    Romans 10:9 (Geneva Bible):
For if thou shalt confesse with thy mouth
the Lord Iesus, and shalt beleeue
in thine heart, that God raised him vp
    from the dead
    , thou shalt be saued:

    \o/ Praise Iesus \o/

Satan is a looser. Do you think he wants us to win? Hardly. He WILL make black look white, and a lie look like truth. The Holy Bible is our only way to stay the course, for it is the very WORD of God.

Satan can out smart us any day, without God's help.

Yes, indeed ... and with that in mind, I intend to preach to dying men tomorrow of the great news that Christ rose from the dead.

Lives are at stake. Don't get sidetracked by silly debates about the origin of Easter.

Christ died on Passover and was raised on the first day of the week. This is clear.

Passover is selected by picking the first New Moon after the spring equinox and using that as Nisan 1. Then on Nisan 14 you have Passover. (Something they have been doing since after the destruction of Jersusalem in 70 AD)

Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after the first full moon after vernal equinox.

It is clear that the attempt with easter sunday was to get it to be a Sunday new the feast of first fruits that comes after Passover (Christ was raised on First Fruits).

There is nothing pagan about trying to get a resurrection celebration at the time of year when Christ was really raised from the dead.

But naming it "easter" is certainly optional.

    In Christ,

    Bob

    On a more serious note.

There is an expression the better educated folks on this board sometimes use: "Hislop doesn't count".
Those claims you make about the fertility goddess of Babylon? They are based on the writings of Alexander Hislop.

I celebrate Resurrection Sunday signifying the raising of Jesus Christ from the dead on the first day of the week!!!

However, the weather people in our area seem to have no clue!

It is snowing in North Texas this morning, and the weather people are saying the "poor easter bunny will leave his tracks in the snow".

    [IMG]

Sorry to burst your bubble Moique, but Easter is named after the goddess of fertility, Ashtar, and has nothing to do with the resurrection of Jesus!!!

    Peace,

    Tam

It is obvious no one on this thread knows or minds the Scriptures, and must resort to either strange traditions or sarcasm or senseless rhetoric to justify their own whims - 'whims' because I've so far seen no fundamental Christian conviction based on Scripture.
Worst are the sentimental noises which some think pleases God to hear, reciting their self-flattering Scripture passages.

Even heart-felt, emotionally experienced believing in Jesus can and often is not the saving faith the gift from God. Nor will everybody's confessing verbally help him in the day of judgement, as Jesus said, not everyone calling Lord, Lord, will in that day escape divine judgement.
Don't fool yourself by your own false feeling of security calling on some Scripture which may not be justly applied to your own case, however much you may think you deserve it to.

    Sighh...
Easter the fertility goddess whose name is used instead of the more proper term Pasen in the English speaking world has no connection to Ishtar. Except in the imagination of Hislop. You've been deceived by him as well apparently, just like Gerhard and Wopik..
