I always hear this "Jesus is the same" stuff, but if he is the same why are christians not all healed? Many people simply say that when Jesus was here he healed everybody and he never said "No, I don't want to heal you" to anybody and this means he wants to heal everybody. Then why are there christians which are sick? Once I wanted to be healed after reading a book about healing from Kenneth Hagin. I claimed my healing just like he described it in his book but after a short while I became insecure. To prove to myself that I have faith I threw away my medicine but I did not get healed. It was just terrible. My faith didn't profit from this. Why was I not healed? Did I simply not have enough faith? But many christians say getting healed is as easy as getting saved. If I obviously do not have enough faith to be healed then how do I even know wether I have enough faith to be saved? :(
You notice if you're healed or not, this is something you can see and you know if it worked or not. But you don't notice if you really got saved and wether your prayer worked or not, what if I only think I'm saved but just like I didn't get healed back then I also didn't get saved cause my faith was not enough? xdisciplex that is the danger in the false teachings on healings. When someone who believes is not healed then they say you didn't have enough faith.

Healings as done by the apostles and others during the NT times was for a purpose during that time period. That purpose is now gone, but will return again during the tribulation.

You can read more about what I'm talking about in the I Corinthians 7:14 thread I believe it is, so I will not repost here.

If you believe that Jesus died for your sins according to the Scriptures and shed his blood to pay the penalty for sin then you are saved. It really is that simple. And I don't know how much faith that requires. Either you believe it or you don't.

The Bible says believers will go through "tribulations", sickness included. God has a purpose for our lives, so don't question your faith if He has not healed you. Paul had a "thorn in the flesh" too, and he took praise that in his weakness, God's will was done.

Because it isnt always God's will to heal everybody. Just like it wasnt God's will to prevent wicked people from hurting and killing Jesus.

    John 9
1: And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2: And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3: Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

    Job 33:
13: Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
14: For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
    15: In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
16: Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
17: That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
18: He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
19: He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
20: So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.
21: His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.
22: Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
23: If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
24: Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
25: His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:
26: He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
    27: He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
28: He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
29: Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,
30: To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

The bible never says Jesus healed everyone, nor does it promise christians will not be sick. We are not God and do not see what He sees, we do not know His plans for us or anyone else, therefore we do not know why He allows some to be sick and others not. But it has nothing to do with faith or salvation.

Are you saying Jesus only healed to show his power and not because he wants us to be healed!?!?!?
Are you saying God has "no interest" in me being healed because there is nothing more to demonstrate right now?  [IMG]

Not everyone was healed during the times of the Apostles...

They healed many... But, not all...

I postulate that when James says to call for the elders and says the Prayer of Faith *will* heal the sick....

That it is not expected that the sick person who can barely standon their feet to be prayed for to have the Faith to be Healed but, rather, the Elders upon who they have called to stand in the gap for them...

And, I get a bit 'ticked' when they says, 'Well, there was doubt in the house'.

Doubt is the absence of faith... So, when you eat Swiss Cheese do you taste the air in the holes or the Cheese surrounding the holes?

In the same way God savors Faith. Whatever faith is available...

(Granted, in some cases there is Active Doubt or Unbelief.)

One reason that there are so many sick today inside the church is found, imho, in

1 Corinthians 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, discerning the Lord's body
1 Corinthians 11:30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

This can be taken several ways...

    1. We are not adequately Reverencing Communion.
    2. We are not properly recognizing various members in the Body of Christ...
    3. A failure to judge and disciple ourselves.

Consider, the deadly sin of Saphira and Annanias. When they tried to spiritually-one-up-man-ship the good work the Barnabas had just done...

Also consider the total disregard we tend to have for people who are not part of 'Our Crowd'.

Could that not be another way of not discerning the Lord's Body?

I think we are wrong, though, to teach that everyone in NT tines stayed perfectly healthy and everyone got healed every time...

There is more to God's plan for us than physical health.

See Paul's "thorn in the flesh."

Psalms 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Many will interpret this passage to mean that 'God wants to heal you, all you have to do is reach out. Claim the healing...'

But that is not necessarily what God is saying. Sometimes one's deliverance may be when that one closes his eyes in death and wakes with a glorified body.

the story of Job involved Satan making him sick and God allowing him to get sick and stay that way for awhile to test his faith.

Job showed he was full of faith no matter what he thought God had done to him..

Sometimes God will test us to see if we will trust in Him no matter what...

Notice Job said he will STILL maintain his ways before God...even if God slay him

Job:13:15: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him : but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

notice the "But if not" part:

    Daniel 3:
16: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17: If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king .
18: BUT IF NOT, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Sometimes we treat God like we would treat the Devil if we were going to make a pact with him... IF you will heal me, I will serve you... IF you will make me wealthy I will bow down and worship you.

It was when Solomon asked God to make him wise so that he could be a good judge.... that God said this:
    I Kings 3
12: Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
13: And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

Nowadays these "Healers" and Preachers who promises riches are exact opposite... they treat God like a vending machine...

My people are poor and afflicted. But God does heal and that is for sure. I will witness to that.

Maybe their halos are too tight.

Has anyone done a study showing that Christians have more illness than none Christians?

    Cheers,

    Jim

the story of Job involved Satan making him sick and God allowing him to get sick and stay that way for awhile to test his faith.
    ----------------------------------------------

The test was to show the devil that Job would remain true no matter what trials he endured. It was not a test of Job's faith at all. God said, that Job "was complete and upright, and one that feared God and shunned evil."

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Jim,

I view Job as going through lots of ups and downs along the way..

    like in chapter 3
1: After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.
2: And Job spake, and said,
3: Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
4: Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.

and like when Elijah got all upset and wanted God to just let him die there for awhile.

I can understand what you mean though Jim... I think that a great part of it was to show the devil Job could be trusted..
But I still think God was testing his faith

I guess its because I see Job as perfect but not as perfectly perfectly perfect [IMG]

It is a matter of lack of faith. How many of us have deserted the jobs as Peter, JOhn, James, Andrew, Matthew did?

How many of us have the faith as Zachaeus showed when he met Jesus?

Are we serving only one master? or mammon too ?

Have we deserted all the paganism yet?

Are we serving God as Shema in Dt 6:4-?

Do we trust God more than the Doctors?

Have we prayed enough until we get the Answer from God? or we just finish guessing that the prayer might be enough to God?

There are many more pre-requisites for a certain level of faith.

Yes and we also have the apostle Paul who prayed 3 times to be healed and look at what the Lord said...
    2Co 12:9-10
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
    ==================================================

XDX~ There are reasons why some are sick and some are healed. But we can rest in knowing that God is still God.

I believe in healing, but even I had prayed for healing and wasn't healed every time, but during the times I was sickly I gradually got better. Now there were a several times that I had prayed or was prayed for that I recieved healing also. I don't know why the Lord heals sometimes and not another time. The blind man was healed but before he was healed the disciples asked if it was his sin orhis parents sin that caused him to be blind? Jesus told them it was "that the works of God should be made manifest in him". (John 9)

God does heal, He said He would and He can not lie, but we also are going to die of something because of Adam's sin. If we lack faith we are not going to be healed that is for sure but in the end the bodies become so perished, old and sick that death is a miracle, it will let you die and leave a dying painful body. I been right at the door and could feel the peace and ask God to let me go but He is still keeping me here. My life and yours is in His hands.
