I know a distant relative was from Alaska territory.

I'm a Heinz 57 mutt. I've got some of everything.

Besides, if the government gets enough bad data, then they'll....

...wait, we're talking about the Government. Bad data never stopped them before.

I like that, what about hybrid...

I think African American is more correct since his dad was from Africa and his mom from America.

The reason he's considered black dates back to slavery, when the slave owners had kids with the slaves, the child was considered black and lived as a slave.

That's funny. You know Dr. Eitel (Missions Prof. here at SEBTS and now at SWBTS) tells a story about when he and his family came home to the US from serving in Cameroon. His daughter was filling out college applications and he noticed that she had checked "Africa-American." He told her she could not do that. She responded, "Why not? I was born in Africa and I am an American."

Again, I am trying to rise above the old ties to the slave trade and refer to BHO as he really is.

Kids... you got to love them. They aren't limited to our way of seeing things.

Actually I don't really say this comment in a derogatory way. I've been doing a lot of genealogical work on my family and it's suprising what you can find out. I know for a fact that I have a little Cherokee Indian in me. My mother used to tell us that my grandfather would rarely talk about it but that it is true.

No one would care. He wouldn't have been running for president.

Why not, you saying he only ran because he's black?

Had he been white, he wouldn't have been a blip on the radar of presidential politics. Just another one of the guys.

    No doubt at all.

As to ancestors I dig around now and then in the family. My surname is rather unique so I email/mail people with the same now and then. Found a Brazilian of same name and one man in LA had some similar family names. Along the way of our corresponding he said by the way does it matter that I'm black? So somewhere back there I know there are some mixed marriages. Imagine that in a fine English name!

I see, you think Hillary would have beat him in the primaries. He does a good speech so he might have made it close.

He wouldn't have been in the primaries. He wouldn't have been a Senator.

He would have been just another two-bit lawyer. He probably wouldn't have even been a lawyer. With his less than sterling educational background, he certainly wouldn't have gone to Harvard.

Actually Obama has heritage on both sides:
Through his father he is African and Semite, and his mother Caucasion.......

So guess that makes him more white... so white he is .......

BTW: Bill Clinton claimed to be the first 'black' President.

(To myself, I really don't see how any of this matters!)

Dumbest post I have read today.....

Would you introduce him as your black friend, why would that even be mentioned.

The point to this op is that he isn't black.

    Give me a break

This race wasn't about race until the race was over, now the race was all about race.

"This race wasn't about race until the race was over, now the race was all about race."

Even the media mentioned that he brought up race himself from time to time!

Have any of you read his books - does he explain why he picked to be black. Most I've seen on tv that speak of it had things in their lives that moved them to one side or the other. Honest question. No underlying motives. Not racist.

Just a guess, perhaps he looked at his skin color and noticed he didn't look like the others... :wavey:
