I listened to a worship song and there was one line which was like "you're the help which never comes too late" referring to God.But God doesn't always help and keep all evil from us, I mean in China christians are killed. Why doesn't God intervene there? Can we even rely on God to help us when he doesn't even always help christians which are in danger? Supposing I am in danger and crazy terrorists want to kill me, can I rely on God to rescue me? I mean when God allows christians to be killed then you also cannot be sure wether he'll help or not. :(

    Jimbo,

God is not slow regarding His promise as some would count it, but there is a waiting on the Lord. Note the picture of Lazarus when he was "sick" these pasages should help you ponder what kind of death or sickness this is Spiritually. Jesus tarried to come to His freind, he WAITED he did not come immediately.

John 11:6 When he had heard therefore that Lazarus was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.

Just as with Lazarus this truth is seen in our experience which is HOPE DEFERRED

Proverbs 13:12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but [when] the desire cometh, [it is] a tree of life.

The kind of death (baptism or drinking the Cup)

Mat 26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death

    Concerning Lazarus Jesus said

John 11:4 This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

But then Jesus says what SEEMS contrary

John 11:14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

It’s a paradox concerning the Sorrowful heart unto death (sickness is of the heart, which longs within one) The kind of death that’s precious in the eyes of the Lord… Look…

Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD [is] the death of his saints.

Yet now return above to proverbs 13:12, a LONGING FULFILLED is the Tree of Life (Christ)

It’s a Spiritual truth concerning how God makes us wait within ourselves.

But He did come to Lazarus (though he waited) He came. What a hopeful passage!

    God Bless

    Hey Jimbo,

I've seen some of your posts.

God does not want for any of His children to hurt. However, He helps in His way. God can work all things out for the good of those who love him.

Some things are hard to understand. Sometimes they just need to be accepted. We are not God, our mind is not perfect because we are not perfect. One thought from the mind of God is greater than all of our greatest plans put together. Sometimes we just need to relax and ask for understanding.

    May God bless you Jimbo.

    In Christ,

    Brooks

It's called free will, dude. If someone stands in front of you, and pulls out a gun and pulls the trigger, God isn't likely to magically stop the bullet from hitting you, because it would be interfering with the other person's free will. Just like God's not going to stop you from making your own choices. And last time you checked, I'm sure you've made some good decisions, and some bad ones.

Psalm 23 doesn't say that God will prevent evil from happenning to us. It says that when evil does happen to us, God will be there. There's a big difference.

But this means that God would allow me to be killed by somebody else? :(
This is scary! I thought God would protect us. :(
This doesn't really increase my trust when I think about God allowing something evil happening to me. :(

Didn't you mention that you were raised athiest or something like that?

The fact that you have found God, or rather that He has drawn you nigh to him from *athiesm* should show you that you trust in Him.

It is your fears' and satan's job to keep you from trusting more and growing more as a christian in Him. When you have these doubts the very best thing you can do is 1)pray and 2)you must tell yourself that you *know* satan is trying to prevent your spiritual growth.

I notice that you say something like "everyone tells me something different" well we're all different people and nobody is going to think 100% like you (figurative you) all the time. He is leading you and He is protecting you even now in your fears. He lead you to this board where you could grow and seek help. Remember to also check with a doctor like I've reminded you before so that you will have the best chance.

Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile =o)

    and oh yeah

    smile!!

Jimbo, I've said it before. Your infantile whining is getting you no where. You're going out of your way to not believe in God, not trust God, and not trust scripture. Knock it off.

Johnv, maybe you should try to be more understanding and if you don't want to help, then just don't respond to his threads...be harmless!!

As for you, Jimbo, I will be praying for you that God will take away your fear. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind!!! Fear does not come from God, it comes from Satan. Do not accept that fear. Why should you fear death??? Death is the gateway to Heaven if you are a Christian. However, if you have not accepted Christ as you Saviour, then yes, death is something to be afraid of. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour???

Your questions are always "hands off" - try something.

Until then - consider the book of Daniel - first 6 chapters. Lots of cases where the good guys get threatened with death - but then they win.

    But did they really?

Daniel and his 3 friends still died didn't they?

And they were taken prisoner to start with weren't they?

Enoch on the other hand (Gen chapter 5) did not die - he "really" won.

    In Christ,

    Bob

JJ, I asked you at least twice and you never answered.

What church are you in and why aren't you asking these questions to people there?

This whole concept has been explained ad nasuaem and Jimbo appears to have no desire to hear it.

For those who might be troubled by Jimbo's post the answer is obvious. I am finite, all I see is the picture for me and me alone. God is infinite, He sees the whole picture. Since He knows everything He knows what is best overall. I only think I know what is best for me.

Who is worth trusting - a limited knowledge, selfish "me" or an infinite, onmiscient, all loving God.

I think I'll continue to trust Him instead of me.

    Jimbo,

You are looking to fellow humans when you should be looking to God in faith and trust for the re-assurance you need. As I have said before, the Christian walk is a journey, an ongoing process. We don't and won't have all the answers this side of heaven. Prayer and Bible reading and study will help answer some of the questions you have. You have to let the Holy Spirit work in you and become more God dependent.

    God Bless

    Sheila

Where did you get this idea. Not the bible thats for sure. It is your idea that is flase and baseless, not God or His promises or even scripture. Somehow you have picked up a whole bunch of beliefs that are not from the bible and are disappointed and whine when God does not do what you want Him to based on these false beleifs. Maybe what you should do is read the bible and see what it really says and change what you believe on it and not where ever you got all this you keep posting about.
Almost every thread I've read of your( and I ahven't read all of them) you post on not having faith to beleive God, but the reason you aren't beleiveing Him is becasue as I just said you have beleifs that are not biblical. Believeing God is of faith, not proof. If you need to see proof of Him it is not faith.

    donnA, what do you mean?
I just want to know if God always helps us and keeps evil from us and if we can rely on this.
In other countries christians are killed and God allows it, this means that God does not always keep evil from us. And my question was wether we can rely on God to help us when somebody wants to kill us for example. This is my problem. When you cannot know wether God will allow you to be killed or not then how can you rely on God's help?
This is what I don't understand!

    @ Marcia

I don't really have a church. That's all I will say about it.

Hymnal theology isn't always good and what you are struggling with is a prime example of why. What you need to do is get into the Bible. Faith commeth by hearing and hearing by the word of God. As you have already been told, you must forget that hymnal theology and get your beliefs straight from the scriptures themselves. The only one that can do that for you is you. It is in your hands now.

But imagine a bunch of terrorists is after you and you pray to God to help you not to get killed then would you have to include: "But your will be done and if it's your will that I'm killed then so be it..." I mean do you really think it's God's will that christians are killed?

ONe of the ironies of war is that God may love the guy in your sights who you are about to kill. He may even be a Christian.

War is an AWFUL thing, and should be an absolute last resort in DEFENSE of your soil. To hear some folks talk you'd think it was a football game.

Yes, I do believe that it is God's will sometimes that Christians be killed. You see, "Precious in the sight of the Lord are the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15 If God were to call you home via a terrorist attack, then that is a great way to go!!! And especially if they are after you for being a Christian!!!! "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil agianst you falsely for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." Matthew 5:11,12

You see, there is so much more to life than just life on this earth, there is an eternity waiting for us. If you are a Christian, then the eternity waiting for you is Heaven and all its splendor!!!! And why would you not want to go there if it were God's will for you??? However, if you are not a Christian, the eternity waiting for you is very bad...eternity in the Lake of Fire. I do not want that for you and neither does God. Please think about this.

If you are a Christian and are still afraid to die, then pray about it. Ask God to give you peace.....I'll be praying for you!!!

I guess my problem is simply that somehow I still have some reservations trusting God. :(
I mean just look at prayer boards. There are so many desparate christians which ask for help and which have so many problems and when you read this stuff you ask yourself where God is and why he doesn't do anything. This is scary.
What shall I do? What if I cannot trust God 100%? :(
