Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Why no mention of a new covenant in verse 33 with the house of Judah?... Comments... Brother Glen

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? Acts 1:6

And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all: Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God. Ezek 37:21-23

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. Heb 8:10-12

There will be no house of Judah.

    Just my guess.

The ten northern tribes had been dispersed among the nations in the earlier downfall of Israel. Following their dispersal they are assimilated among the nations of the world and don't play a major part in the rest of biblical history.

The tribes of Judah and Benjamin formed the southern nation of Judah. Their downfall occurred about two centuries later.

The book of Chronicles details the return of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin - but not of the ten other tribes.

Technically Judah and Benjamin were the only tribes that remained of the twelve tribes the person of "Israel" to whom the promise of land and people were promised.

The use of the name "Israel" therefore is meant to remind the people of the promise made to their forefather who bore the name and was given the promise.

See Ezekiel 37. Israel will not only be gathered together throughout the world (where they have been scattered) for the Tribulation,
but will be united (as is the case presently). Time is short, Jews throughout the world only need one supernatural event by God,
and they will flock back "home". (see Ezek 38-39).

Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows,
and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
    Ezek 37:19

Great theology! God is going to gather all Israel back "home??" so He can punish them for seven years. Of course that great pre-trib theologian John F. Walvoord writes in Major Bible Prophecies that the time lapse between “the Rapture” and the “Second Coming” will be more than seven years [pages 283, 293].

He has already included Judah in verse 31. Also Judah was of Israel so they would be included in verse 33.

    Actually though, this is the promise of the New Covenant instituted through the death of Jesus Christ and includes believing people, the Elect, of all nations and ethnic groups. {Hebrews 8:7-13}

It might be helpful to read Jeremiah in light of its place in the chronology of Old Testament. After the divided kingdom stage, much of what was Israel disappeared or been absorbed in the various captivities and exiles.

Also, the New Covenant applies for the new people of God, the new corporate nation of the Church.

I also agree with Old Regular... But what about this thought that the reason there is no mention to house of Judah... Is because Jesus Christ is the Lion Of The Tribe on Judah and is the New Covenant mentioned... Brother Glen
