Over 30 years ago Abu-Jamal fatally shot Philadelphia police officer David Faulkner.

In 2011 after repeated lawsuits, Pennsylvania finally halted their efforts to put Jamal to death, mostly due to the fact that after such a long time witnesses are no longer available.

Maureen Faulkner Danny's widow, continues to be a strong advocate for justice in the case. She called the judges who overturned a death sentence “dishonest cowards.”
Senator Pat Toomey spoke about the case recently:
The Obama Administration has asked the Senate to confirm Jamal's lawyer, Debo Adegbile for assistant attorney general in the Justice Department's civil rights division

The closure vote happens tomorrow, March 5th, 2014.

I am really surprised that the Democrats are in retreat over anything.
