Why bother voting for Christian representatives? Wouldn't it hasten the endtimes if we let the world go and didn't concern ourselves with politics? Don't we want and long for the end? Could we all have either not voted or voted for someone with low standards and been able to rationalize it?
Weird question I know, but if we are to believe that in the end nothing will change the timing of the end of time and that sin will get worse until that point in time, why do we bother trying to stop it, especially if one believes their salvation is already secure no matter what they do with it?

I'm one of those pre-triber types Gina and personally I'm homesick and find the waiting a little tough but I've always been the impatient sort. I'm just not impatient enough to help the devil so I can go home sooner.

I don't think Bush has any control over God's timing, I could be wrong though it has been reported that God talks to Bush directly so, I guess I've been left out of the loop again. Ah well, guess I'll just have to keep waiting and watching and reporting on the things I find.

God is in control. Our feeble elections or wars or anything is not going to change the timetable of eternity.

But you knew that. Could see the tongue-in-cheek in your post!

Well, Doc, I think that all pre-tribbers are summer soldiers and sunshine patriots--no tongue in cheek. Darby sold you a pig in a poke.

Either way CMG eternity will most likely make our tiny time and tribulations here seem as nothing. I'm not in that big of a rush anyways. ;)

I can think of worse fates than having my head lopped off for Jesus. I'll get a brand new in due time.

Would you please expand on your post. I may be dense, but, just exactly, what are you saying?

I don't think George Bush is in the business of telling God what to do.

Evidently you people who are anxious for the end of time don't have children or grandchildren who are lost. I do and my prayer is that Jesus will delay His coming until they can be saved. By the way, that is my prayer for your children and grandchildren also. Doc Bob and Wes post make sense to me

Doctor Doctor Bob is right---nothing we do is going to change God's timetable of eternity!!

There is a date set on God's calendar---that when that date arrives---whether you are saved or not---God is going to come and retrieve His children! God will not delay His coming for anyone!

In the mean time, we are to be light and salt. Some of us can get quite saltier than others, though, LOL. ;)

I guess I am not seeing the connection with the End of times according to scripture and voting. I think we should vote, period. And if we choose not to vote we have no one to blame but ourselves when immoral people are elected. I feel the thinking behind “Why bother to vote, it’s not going to change God’s plan” is illogical and a poor excuse. And the thinking that “Why even bother in trying to make our world a better/moral place for our children to grow up in when it’s only going to get really evil/ugly”, is irrational as well. Oh and the title to the thread is illogical also, but I guess you did not mean it to be a real question?

Acting to make things worse to hasten the Lord's coming would be the same as killing babies, knowitng that they go to heaven.

God is the Creator, we are His creatures. Let's not get it backwards.

It is a false idea of non believers that Christians would like to hasten the return of Christ. While there are some who do most do not. Part of my message yesterday was from Amos 5:18
Be careful of any Christian who prays for the Lord to return quickly, chances are he is not as prepared for Christ's return as he thinks he is. We may think we are holy but remember Rev 3:17

With pleasure--and no you are not dense if you don't follow end-times stuff. By the way, how are things in Illinois? I lived in Chicago for 7 years. Too cold for me and I just couldn't make it in the big city.

Pre-tribbers believe that Jesus will come the second time before the Great Tribulation. They think that they will be taken to heaven before that period of hardship and that they will be rescued while the non-Christians will be left to be tried by tribulation. I think that they should be praying that they are worthy. That doctrine was started in the early 1800s by a man named Darby, who sold everyone an unseen pig in a sack, a pig in a poke. The doctrine went into Pentacostalism and then became the cornerstone of Fundamentalism and Evangelicalism.

Historically, the church always believed that she would endure through the Great Tribulation. Martin Luther was convinced that the Pope was the anti-Christ. That Pope was an anti-Christ.

Post-tribulation doctrine teaches that Jesus will return the second time at the end of the Great Tribulation when the dead in Christ are raised to eternal life just after Satan is locked up for 1000 years. It is the traditional, historic doctrine of Christians.

Actually, I think Bush is going to hurry it up with political, social and environmental devastation.

It looks as if we are going to have 4 more years of partisan politics.

    Majority rules.

It is not me. It is the over 59 million who voted for Bush and gave him a small majority.

Losers should offer aid, not more politics, but then the Constitution Party is a real loser in every sense, isn't it?

The election and politics just never end for you, do they? Are you going to give us 4 more years of taking pot shots at the GOP?

By the way, you lost by about 115 million votes.
