Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Psalm 19:7 The law F59 of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, F1 nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; F2 and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Read the NT and see what they did - they preached from the scriptures - reasoning "from the scriptures" Acts 17:2. Read Acts 2 - Peter himself reasoned from scriptures to prove that his argument was sound.

Paul in Acts 17:11 praises his hearers to checking him out from scriptures for it is the word not of David/Isaiah - but of the trinity - of Christ.

    Acts 17

10 The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

Here we see “sola scriptura” practiced “just as it is today” – with the saints “studying the scriptures daily to see IF those things are so”. “Those things” in this case are those things told to them by the Apostle Paul. Here is a worst case scenario for RC fans because it is a case where the non-Christian is able to judge an actual Apostle using God’s Word “alone”.

    Acts 26:22
    "
So, having obtained help from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, stating nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said was going to take place.

Clearly Paul’s teaching was “Regulated by the Sacred Scriptures” in away that matches with “sola scriptura” practices today.

And that is why in Heb 3:7 when quoting Ps 95 the infallible text does not say "and in psalms 95 David says.." but it makes a point of "therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says.." and then quotes Ps 95. Because the Word of God – is found in scripture.

Paul argues that the work already done – the scripture already given is the “test” of all that comes later.
    Gal 1

    6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel;
7 which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.
8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel
contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!
9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!

Jesus was the prime example of “One” who could rightly say “I do not need to teach doctrine from the Bible – I am God – just hear me and do what I say”. So what do we find? Even He taught from the scriptures using them as proof. His disciples were urged to follow his example and teach as he taught.

    Matt 21:
42Jesus said* to them, “did you never read in the scriptures, ‘the stone which the builders rejected, this became the chief corner stone; this came about from the lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?
43“thereforeIi say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people, producing the fruit of it.

notice what Jesus said to members of the magesterium Matt 22:29but Jesus answered and said to them, “you are mistaken, not understanding the scriptures nor the power of God.

2Tim 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration from God And is profitable for reproof, doctrine and correction”
