Would anyone dare to think that revival could come without repenetnce????...Without cleaning up our mouths? Folks, do you want revival on this forum? It certainly needs it. Then we are goingf to have to clean up the insults, put downs, sexual language and hostility. Does anyone dare to think that this is not true??

    Yes, it's true Gerad:

Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

We can't force "revival" but we can acknowledge our need.

We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God.

BTW, isn't your post a "put down"?

Hank D - Your comment "BTW, isn't your post a "put down" is exactly the kind of thing that Christians have no business doing.

    Geard,

Been reading about revival and looking at scripture. The problem we have today IMO, is we are not willing to be humble and seek God's face. We are to busy trying to justify what and why we do things, rather than asking the question "is this the best thing I should do?"
Today it is all about "ME" and God just has to accept me the way I am.

    Hank,

I'll accept that. Two wrongs don't make a right though, and while I may be wrong in telling you that your comment came across as rude, the fact remains that Gerad's concerns were NOT put downs. Gerard's concerns were legitimate and his comments accurate.

He did not single out individuals. You did, and then I did.

This is a moderated board. If you would point out these violations with the "Report Post" button the moderators can deal with them.

    Thanks in advance

In my estimation so were mine.

    OK.

My sentiments are similar to C4K's. IMO,very little gets by the moderators here (as you can see by the reactions of Squire and C4K).

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Phil. 4:8-9 [IMG]

Nope, at least not for money. My Daddy taught me the only way to make money off gambling was to rent (cash in advance) out the table and chairs.

But then, with the popularity of poker shows on the boob tube, it's easy to get a passing knowledge of the subject.

Revival must start in the heart and work its way out. If the inside of the cup is dirty, though the outside is sparkling, germs will spread. The germs of hate, pride, envy, strife, backbiting, etc., will spread if the heart is not the first place which is revived.

No he didn't, you are right about that. He blasted a generic broadside at the entire board, instead of dealing with it properly through specific, private, and easily accessible channels which are available on this board, and in your local churches.

That is one of the biggest problems I see in church, and on this board. People who are more than willing to broadcast their complaints and pious hogwash to the airwaves, but they refuse to be man (or woman) enough to address those who are involved directly and privately, or to take it privately to the leadership who can actually effect change. I have not seen very much innapropriate discussion or language since I started on this board. Mainly because when it has happened on rare occasion, it is reported to the moderators who deal with it appropriately.

Can we please get a moderator to shut down this inane and useless thread? It does no good and did not need to be started.

I worry about myself, I'm not sitting around waiting for some emotionally driven, herd mentality, "if you're still in the pew you're a hypocrite" quote unquote revival.

God is constantly challenging me and I am responding. don't know about you, but I am seeing revival.

All of my foul language, sexual innuendo, and fellow christian bashing aside that I apparently do on the BB

My prayer is that churches and individuals would live lives of victory so that revivals would not be necessary.

Our concept of the Christian life is so far off base. We "schedule" our revivals and wait for "special" preachers to lead. Its as if we feel the Holy Spirit only works greatly once a year, normally at the end of the summer, and needs a selected handful of man to lead. Where is the Scriptural base for our modern day revivals?

Historically revivals were when vast numbers of lost individuals came to Christ. Now it seems to be "getting right" times for lazy believers.

And just as a note, is revival even an accurate word? To revive means to bring back to life which demands that life was once there. Before we are saved we are dead, dead, dead. After we are saved we do not need to be "revived", perhaps "awakening" would be preferable to "revival."

    Just some thoughts.
