If you were President, what policies and reforms would you push for?

-Abolish the EC
-Expand the number of seats in House of Representatives to around 800 (while reducing overall salary) and thus creating smaller districts. Also add a 100 or so seats apportioned proportionally to ensure results like last year do not recur where the party that should have won more votes did not gain a majority
-Increase House terms to three years
-Establish a nonpartisan electoral commission to prevent Gerrymandering.
-Reform Senate so that it is largely a house that can review and delay legislation
-Institute a line item veto for the President
-Repeal term limits for the President
-To ensure that Congressmen don't engage in pork barrel spending, remove decisions on spending appropriation to a nonpartisan commission of economists, demographers, and so on who will determine where spending will go based on income, population, and so forth
-Have the Federal Reserve continue its stimulatory policies
-Continue aggressively implementing Obamacare, if it fails to appreciably rein in costs a decade after full implementation, move towards a German-style UHC system
-Remove the payroll tax cap on Social Security
-Devise a "retirement age formula" for Social Security and Medicare that depending on health, type of job, employment status etc. allows one to retire at an age range of say 60 to 70.
-Means-test Social Security and Medicare
-Raise the minimum wage to nine dollars an hour and tie the minimum wage to inflation
-Institute guaranteed maternity leave along with guaranteed vacation time of at least a month
-Restrict loopholes and deduction in tax code to a set cash amount
-Raise estate taxes back to levels in the '90s, keep the income tax the same (or raise it a bit depending on various factors), institute a Carbon Tax and possibly VAT. Cut corporate taxes and work to eliminate them eventually.
-Institute a combined infrastructure-alternative energy bill. Provisions will include repairing currently outdated infrastructure, building an extensive national high speed-rail system, expanding Amtrak services, subsidies to major metropolitan areas for expanding mass transit systems, building dozens of nuclear power plants, and increasing funding for alternative energy research.
-Increase funding for the space program with set dates to return to the Moon, establish a lunar base, and land on Mars
-Eliminate farm subsidies
-End the War on Drugs, legalizing marijuana and most other soft drugs while decriminalizing most hard drugs with a few exceptions such as bath salts. Encourage states to reduce drinking age to 18.
-Immigration reform involving a path to citizenship for most current illegals, increased border security, and revise immigrant quotas. Country-based quotas are to be abolished and granting of visas to be determined by income, education level, job, and skills.
-Continue aggressively pursuing free trade pacts
-Create universal preschool education while expanding the number of daycare programs so that all mothers can afford it
-Reform the education system by abolishing summer vacations and instead putting in school vacations throughout the year. Also establish a minimum national curriculum
-Expand funding for vocational education and create a Richard Nixon scholarship program giving a full ride to college for the top five or ten percent of students with middle class or lower income
-Repeal DOMA and leave gay marriage to the states
-Promote voluntary eugenics by offering subsidies for sterilization for parents identified as carrying hereditary diseases or disabilities
-Pass a federal amendment banning abortion unless the mother's life is threatened. Also abortions after the point of fetal brain activity shall be treated as equivalent to first degree murder
-Leave death penalty to the states but encourage them to restrict it to those convicted of multiple killings. Meanwhile this would enable us to abolish multiple appeals before carrying out a death sentence
-Institute mandatory sterilization for sex criminals
-Institute universal background checks and increased punishments for straw purchases but no other gun control measures
-Promote Western culture and identity by increasing funding for PBS and NPR along with the fine arts and humanities while cutting off funding for degenerate art
-Create a Department of Science and a Department of Culture
-Cut areas of military spending especially missile defence programmes and conventional forces
-Identify Russia and China as primary strategic threats and work to isolate them by strengthening our alliances in Europe and East Asia until they democratize.
-Pursue a treaty of alliance with India and institute a Marshall Plan for that country
-Work to completely eliminate the current regimes of the following countries: Iran, Sudan, North Korea, Syria, Saudi Arabia. While we won't go to war against them, isolate them as much possible, aid opposition forces, engage in cyberwarfare and a few discreet assassinations etc.
-Continue the policy of drone warfare against Islamist reactionaries in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, and elsewhere
-End the embargo and establish diplomatic relations with Cuba and improve relations with Venezuela while weaning them off the Iranians.
-Create a mega-free trade zone called the "Union of the West" incorporating all First-World democracies (so NAFTA zone + EU + Korea/Japan/Singapore + Australia/NZ + Argentina/Chile/Uruguay+Israel) and with India and other poorer democracies as associate members. Aim to create a common currency, defence pact, and political union.
-Establish the metric system as the official system of measurement in the United States
-Intervene in Syria by enforcing a no fly zone and air strikes but no boots on the ground
-Push for a two-state solution in Israel/Palestine with Israel keeping 1967 border plus all Jerusalem and some settlement blocks. Palestine upon independence shall sign a treaty of non-aggression with Israel
-Proclaim a "Never-Again" Doctrine that the United States shall oppose any instance of genocide or ethnic cleansing and will intervene unilaterally if need be to stop it.

I would build one final government building, a prison designed and run by Sheriff Joe. I would then direct the Attorney General to investigate every member of Congress. If warranted, each and everyone would be charged with treason, theft, extortion, bribery, indicted and convicted. They would spend the day on chain gangs and chopping rocks. I would chain Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi together for life.

Then I would repeat the process for the Executive Branch, lobbyists, and Congressional staff.

After that, then less government.

Here's what I took out of your list:

-Means-test Social Security and Medicare
-Eliminate [many] farm subsidies

I would favor the abortion amendment but it's really a states rights issue and besides it would never pass.

I would also create a new government agency whose task is to identify government programs that should be shuttered. If they can't find at least $100 million in program/spending cuts per quarter then that new government agency will be shuttered.

You are correct. I really do not think the Lord Jesus Christ cares about which level of government is killing His precious Creation.

And here's why. The Federal Reserve System and it's fiat debt based currency is the root of most all the problems mentioned at the beginning of this thread.

Economically, the big banks and financial houses are, first and foremost, engines and agents of speculation, peculation, and economic predation. They are not concerned with “the general Welfare”,[3] only with their “bottom lines”.
Politically, they are engines and agents of subversion. They do not seek to aid the General Government in the general interest, but instead to coöpt, coerce, and control that government in order to maximize and protect the profits of their operations, while shifting the losses to whomever else can be made to bear them. The General Government has become a compliant component of their business plans. And, through the operations of that government, the American people have become unwilling servants of those plans, too—and necessarily so, because the government has no resources it does not take from the people.

CONTINUE . . .

I wont comment on every issue you mentioned, but
most everything you mentioned would take an act of Congress to pass.

1) You mentioned increase Congress to 800 seats - I would agree to an increase - but nor more than 600 - and I do agree with a decrease in pay.
2) In addition I would like to see proporational represenation in the EC (as opposed to emlinating it)
3) We need to keep term limts for POTUS- but increase a term to 5 years.
4) I agree with line item veto
5) SS cap -& Means testing NO -
6) Minimum wage - is a state/commonwealth issue - besides the only thing that happens when you rasie the minium wage is more people are working at minium wage
7) Education - strictly a state/commonwealth issue. What I would like to see would be 6-9 week terms (instead of semester/full year course) - that way if a student is failing the first weeks of a course, he would only take that 6 weeks over - not the entire year or semester. - Remember you need a good foundation. In addition you could take any one term off during the year you choice. Also, you could take a lighter load for 1 or 2 terms per calander year.
8) Eliminate the Dept of Education - and reduce it to a very small division of the old HEW.
9) Go to the Canandian plan for the military- a unified armed force

I won't attempt to comment on all your points, either, but would make a few observations.

That would require war being waged on 27 sovereign nations, almost all of whom are our allies. Really??

The Constitution establishes only one limit on the size of the House, that there will be no more than 30,000 people represented by a single representative. Had that standard been adhered to, there would 10,600 representatives by now. Talk about unwieldy! The Apportionment Act of 1911 recognized the inefficiency the Constitutional limitation would create as the country grew, and (for very good reason) limited the House membership to 435. I don't think it needs to be bigger. In fact, it could use some paring down, in my opinion. If it were, say, 251 in membership, that would be 1.27 million per representative, and would eliminate a lot of the problems you're trying to fix by increasing House membership to double its current level.

In this day and age, there is no such thing as "non-partisan" -- that's what the legislatures of the states are supposed to do now, and most are more or less evenly balanced.

Really?? You want more gridlock?

That one I can get behind.

That one I can't. Another four years of the Great Pretender? No way!!

Again, no such thing as "non-partisan" and expecting such a commission not to be a huge logjam to all budgetary legislation is a pipe dream.

Abolish the Federal Reserve and let the economy determine its own strength or weakness. Additionally, put a Constitutional limit on the amount of money in circulation, tied to GDP.

No, no, no, NO!! Wrong tactic. It needs to be repealed because ...

There is no "if" -- it is already a failure in that it is starting to destroy our economy.

No!! Make SS a private investment account for all above the poverty level. Those on welfare can expect to have some of their welfare income set aside for their old age and health care in the same fashion, through managed investment accounts.

Not a bad idea.

Which would increase employment costs, cut into company profit margins (which are already razor-thin, whether you buy into that truth or not), and itself create inflation.

Wonderful! We have a poor production per hour level in the West as it is, and you want to make people even more unproductive!

No. Flat tax. Between 9-13%. Same at state level, only 1-2%

Eliminate the estate tax. It amounts to double taxation. The government already has its money from when the estate was just income. Estate tax, "inheritance" tax, capital gains, etc. all need to be eliminated.

Free enterprise doesn't need incentives to occur. Alternative energy systems will be mass produced when they are viable, and not before.

While I agree that there is a future in space travel and commerce (providing the Lord tarries longer than a hundred years), it too needs to happen through the free enterprise system, not government subsidy.

This is the one subsidy that needs to remain intact, though limits should be placed on the ability of larger farming operations to collect them. Farmers are not unionized, and have been getting the short end of the food chain dollar for generations, and that won't change.

See my previous comments on productivity, medical costs, etc. This is an asinine idea.

As long as it is a true economic standard and not awarded on the basis of racial quota, that's not bad.

Remember that comment I thought was asinine? This one is more so.

If they applied the biblical principle of requiring two or three witnesses (and DNA would be considered a "witness") it could be used in any murder case of particularly heinous nature, even if only one victim. Are you going to tell the parents of a teenaged girls kidnapped, raped, killed and dissected that her killer can't be executed because he only killed her?

While I like the idea, I don't think you can legally force sterilization on anyone.

These media outlets are nothing but propaganda arms for the socialist agenda. Denied.

That will be fine until someone comes along intent on eliminating Western powers from the scene. Then, having disarmed, how would we react?

The Marshall Plan was a wartime agenda. Not practical in peacetime, and China would see it as a direct threat.

Trade with communist countries? Yeah, that's work. Sure worked selling wheat to the Soviets back during the Cold War, didn't it? Not!

Which they won't honor even as long as the ink is still wet. The Palestinians have no right to the land. They did nothing to govern it when they were the sole occupants, and had no national aspirations until Britain began allowing Jews to immigrate to the Holy Land.

If I didn't respond to it, I probably agree with it.

I should have been clear I meant the Electoral College

The purpose of the House was to represent the people as opposed to the Senate which was to represent the states, which is impossible with current proportions or with your proposal. In this case we ought to abolish Congressional districts and have seats allocated proportionally based on a national vote.

California's new district lines are more straighter and compact with the new non-partisan commission than it was before.

I should have clarified it would become more like the Canadian Senate or the British House of Lords in that it would be a conservative body with less of an active legislative role.

Current indications suggest it is quite a success with insurance rates on the health exchanges lower than thought before.

Since other Western countries have higher productivity despite maternal leaves, the problem lies elsewhere. And Americans have some of the lowest vacation times in the world along with being one of the handful of countries without maternal leaves.

Capital gains wouldn't be taxed at all then.

What about now? How can we tell the parents of a teenage girl that was raped that the rapist can't be executed since he hasn't murdered her? How can we tell the family of an innocent man executed?

Well if we can execute people, I don't see why the government cannot sterilize people as punishment.

Reduce =/= eliminate military spending.

1) We're no longer in a Cold War and our enemy is no longer Communism as a whole and 2) we already trade with China, Vietnam, and Laos which are communist (and China at least along with countries such as Saudi Arabia whom we count as allies are even more oppressive than Cuba).

Israeli military superiority would keep any Palestinian aggression in check just as it does now. And by this logic most formerly primitive peoples would have no right to their land.

1. Abolish the Electoral College and make the winner of the Presidential election the candidate that actually gets the most votes.
2. Return our constitutionally granted liberties by repealing the Patriot Act.
3. Abolish tax-free PACS that claim not to be supporting a candidate while actually doing so.
4. Abolish filibustering and all rules which blocks the majority from passing laws.
5. Put the Social Security fund in a "lock box" and not allow its use for anything other than it was intended for.
6. Cut benefits of government employees to be consistent with those of private industry.
7. Limit the number of times the National Guard can be called up for active war-time duty. Re-institute the draft to make up for the difference.
8. Prosecute "white=collar"crimes to the same extent as other crimes.
9. Enforse the separation of church and state by removing tax-free status from those who actively support candidates using church resources.

And give terrorists free rein to plot and carry out their attacks on the free world.

Thus allowing a majority that does not truly represent the feelings of the American people to pass laws that will forever be detrimental to the free enterprise and security systems established in this nation.

There is no such thing as "separation of church and state" except in the minds of inventive types who want to silence the free speech of the church.

That's an amazing statement from someone that swore an oath to protect and defend the constitution. Makes me wonder who's side you are on. George Bush said the terrorists hated us because of our freedoms then he handed the terrorists a huge victory by curtailing those freedoms.

Who are these "terrorists" we're supposed to fear so much that we have to accept an un constitutional authoritarian regime in place of our constitutional republic? Are they the same Al Qaeda terrorists that Washington is backing in Syria? Are they same Al Qaeda terrorists that Washington backed in Libya? Are they the MEK John McCain lobbied for that are carrying out terrorist attacks in Iran? Are they the same Al Qaeda terrorists Washington backed in Kosovo? Are they the same Al Qaeda terrorists Washington helped create in Afghanistan?

These terrorists are all run by the CIA.

You must be talking about the terrorists Washington fears most. Those patriotic Americans that don't want to live under authoritarian rule. Hey you're a veteran right? Did you know the authoritarian regime you keep defending is claiming you are the new terrorist threat to be feared? Yeah read their reports.

Google the MIAC report.

According to the MIAC report, if you oppose any of the following, you could qualify for being profiled as a potential dangerous "militia member":

The United Nations
The New World Order
Gun Control
The violation of Posse Comitatus
The Federal Reserve
The Income Tax
The Ammunition and Accountability Act
A possible Constitutional Convention
The North American Union
Universal Service Program
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
Abortion
Illegal Immigration

Pastor Chuck Baldwin

If you oppose any of the above then you're the real threat now not the CIA's Islamic extremists. The PATRIOT act(s) were never about protecting us from the the CIA's Islamic proxies it was about protecting our lawless regime in Washington from threats like YOU!

You better watch out the Boy Scouts will be coming for you if you aren't careful.

Abolishing the Federal Reserve and going back to a government issued debt free currency is one of the best things we could do for this country.

That's one thing I will agree with on TND!
