I help with and at times teach our church youth group. 5th through 12th grade. They have decided they want to study through the Bible book by bok. They want to read each chapter and then have me teach it to them.
I am trying to decide which book to start on. John and Romans are my first thoughts. Any ideas?

I agree with your choices, although you could consider Galatians as a preview to Romans.

?? Start at the beginning! Arthur Pinks 'Gleanings In Genesis' would make an excellent guide for you, especially to bring out the wide open types that Genesis is rich in.

    Arthur Pink is a hyper-Calvinist.

Genesis gives us reasons to believe the Gospel.
They need to understand that the Bible is true and can be trusted

not sure where you live, but a trip to Cincinnati to the Ark Encounter and Answers in Genesis might be a good trip for you and 3-4 others. Especially the teachers

Btw, to be clear, I do not espouse YG in a church, but that’s another thread

If I was going NT, I would read through a Gospel a few verses at a time and make comments (it is about Jesus right?), and then make the main teaching about Galatians. Start in 1:1 and go to the end

I think John may be the better start.

I think it is a good concentration on the gospel. For a youth group that'd be a great start.
