If the bill includes money for the International Monetary Fund and the swine flu it's not just a "war spending bill" is it?

Why are politicans afraid to just put out a bill that does one thing without insisting on loading it up with their pet projects?

Are the Democrats afraid that their IMF money wouldn't pass on it's own?

This way they either get their pet projects passed or get to demonize the Repubs falsely.

Every bill has other 'stuff' attached to them. That did not stop the Republicians from criticizing the Democrats who opposed the pork a few years ago in that bill. Guess it depends on which party is in power. With the Democrats in power now the Republicians have abandoned the troops in Iraq.

Interesting, isn't it?

Patriotism as long as my party is in power. The new plank in the Republician philosophy.

Perhaps you could refresh our memory.

Yes, you are very funny - now perhaps you could offer a little substance.

BTW what happened to doing on to others...?

Or is that adage only useful to you when you can direct it at others and not something you really follow yourself?

This is not true. Dems would only pass the war funding bills when pork was added. You have it backwards. Abandoning the troops will come when the pullout happens, & a few are left to become targets.

Actually, both sides accuse the other of treason, & not being patriotic. I think if we were to actually support the troops, we would stop using them as a way to win elections.

I agree. They should not be used for political ends ... but politicians will always use them politically.

If people who insist they totally support the troops really want to support the troops, then they should find some military wife who is having to live on food stamps and send them $200.00 a month. That would be real support.

Do a google search on: military food stamps and see how many hits you get.

He'd rather brag about his giving. I've never read such self-pious tripe than CTB's. When challenged, or proven to be wrong, he changes the subject.

Why do they hate our troops?

You mean the Democrats that load up a bill that should be providing funding for the troops but instead allocates the money to the IMF and swine flu?

I can't tell you - it may have something to do with flashbacks to the Vietam era.

That's right. It's not a war spending bill, it's a global socialism bill. It has very little to do with the troops and everything to do with destroying American sovereignty.

God bless the republicans and punish the liars.

There was a different tune when it was the democrats opposing war spending.

Maybe MP is correct, the republicans hate the troops.

Crabtownboy you know that is a lie!

It wasn't republicans who called the troops "jack booted thugs". It was Turbin Durbin on the Senate floor.

It wasn't Republicans who said the troops were raping and pillaging innocent Iraqi familys, or words to that effect, it was Kerry Heinz, or Heinz Kerry, whichever, the junior senator from Mass.

It wasn't Republicans who accused the troops of killing innocents in Afghanistan it was your "dear leader", the tall skinney dictator.

Your reply is totally off topic. The topic is the Republicians voting to cut funding to the troops in Iraq, and funding to withdraw them from Iraq.

So, they have abandoned the US forces in Iraq. Quite a change in their stated position ....... or is it simply politics as usual?

Put in a true war spending bill and the troops will be supported. Old Crabby would be against that. After all, Jesus would never drop a bomb. But, add in the pork and turn it into to a political opportunity to make Republicans look bad and Crabby is all over it. Crabby your hypocrisy once again shines forth for all to see.

Or the real idiot is one who didn't read the entire story and see that it was a group of criminal GIs who gang raped, murdered, and burned the bodies.

But then, no one ever equated this to the troops in general.

No I am not off topic. You accused the Republicans of abandoning the troops, I simply pointed out that is a lie.
