*Ordination* of gays...now its the Lutherans...

God help us. 1st the Episcopal Church, now this...

"MINNEAPOLIS - Leaders of the nation's biggest Lutheran denomination voted Friday to allow gays in committed relationships to serve as clergy in the church -- making it one of the largest Christian denominations in the country to significantly open the pulpit to gays.

That will cause a big split in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America like it's doing with the Episcopalians. Apparently, the church leaders don't care if it splits their denomination.

This folks is why we need to be vigilant in our churches with doctrine primary or otherwise. Scripture is clear on this.

What a ridiculous decision. How a Christian organization can endorse active sexual conduct outside of marriage or even any homosexual activity is beyond me.

Perhaps those in authority in the ECLA are not Christian. If we know them by their fruits, and we are assured that we will, then their fruit has soured and they show no good fruit.:tear:

It should also be noted that there are many ELCA churches that oppose the position, so we shouldn't at this point pass judgement on a church simpyl because it's ELCA. We should allow grace to let each ELCA congregation figure out what it wants to do.

I agree with you on the matter of fellowship, but I would not restrict non-fellowship to "direct". There should be no fellowship with these churches. I did not criticize the entire ECLA, just the leadership.

God thru His Grace has already instructed all Christians in these matters. All one has to do is consult His users manual, better known as the Bible.:godisgood:

For example, my church actively volunteers at a local battered women's shelter, which is very important in our community. Other churches also volunteer. We would not stop volunteering just because we found out some of the other volunteers were ELCA.

I agree, we cannot stop all volunteer work that churches like the ECLA take part in. In my view, fellowship is worshipping together. That is why I say we should stop all fellowship with them.

Anyone who opposses ordination of homosexuals should remove themselves from this church, if they stay they aren't as opposed as they might like to think. When your denomination makes it offical they approve homosexual ordination, if your serious about being a christian, and you say you oppose it how can you stay and appear to be in approval by keeping your membership there.
