The government should not dictate what information these pregnancy centers provide. But, we should not be in the business of lying or using deceit to stand against abortion. Just the plain old truth will be something I believe God will honor. There is enough truth about abortion to sway any rational woman that she should not abort her baby. If the truth doesn't convince a woman to not murder her unborn child, I doubt that anything else will.

Then I suppose the Abortion clinics should be required to put up a sign that says

"Our objective is to convince you need to have an abortion, so we can charge you an an exorbitant amount of money"

Wow! You sure do jump to conclusions and get all excited, don't you?

I never said anyone was lying and deceitful and never voiced any opinion against crisis pregnancy centers. In fact, I support these centers wholeheartedly. It gives a woman facing the choice of an abortion a better option.

I just believe we need to be truthful in all that we do. After all, we represent the Lord Jesus Christ.

If they were truthful they would also state that: "Your baby will be tortured and killed during this procedure"

what is should say is "Your live human unborn child will be torn to shreds from limb and organ in the most vile way ever known to man on the face of the earth. Our abortions make Hitler look like a school yard bully."

You do know it is a sin to make false accusations, don't you? Please explain how I have "claimed otherwise."

If you actually comprehended what I have said, you would see that I am against abortion and feel that it is a sin. All I have said is that in fighting against these death clinics, we, as Christians, should be honest. Do you disagree with this statement, or is it alright in you mind to be dishonest if it is in a Christian's best interest to do so?

So you think these counseling centers are a bad idea? (Straight answer asked for...but not anticipated)

    The OP article:
    The response:
I think I see your point and yet, to be honest with you, Robert Snow, if you believed that the crisis pregnancy centers were already honest, then there'd be no need for you to repeatedly respond as though they presented themselves dishonestly. What is apparent needs no admonition nor defense.

So it would appear that you are in agreement with the new pressure that the government forces these centers to boldly publish that they neither provide abortions nor birth control. While it is true in some other cases of communication that words are used to deceive the intent..... in the case of calling or visiting a "Crisis Pregnancy Center" the very name distinguishes it from "Planned Parenthood". So the assumptions regarding what it provides have less to do with the title or its services than it does for the interpretation or literacy of the person who inquires.

A crisis pregnancy center sounds exactly what its focus is: It is a sanctuary for a pregnancy in crisis; for offering counseling and helping a person see the possibilities of choosing life, who is pregnant and dealing with issues which makes pregnancy appear to be the issue and therefore in crisis. It's title doesn't suggest in any way that there is planning involved as its focus is on those who are either already pregnant or who suspect they are already pregnant. If a client is not pregnant and doesn't want to get pregnant, then abstinence, which CP focuses on, is 100% reliable and cost nothing. It doesn't deal with passing out condoms because it doesn't promote promiscuity between the unmarried, and the condom doesn't afford the best relationship or reliable planning in the married. Its focus is on the pregnant female who is pass the 'protection' of needing a condom to prevent pregnancy and now needs some information and help for a successful pregnancy and preparation for motherhood or adoption options.

This is a blatant attack and intrusion of government and I see the workings of planned parenthood and its lobbyist or monetary connections behind the Baltimore City Council's decision. There is no fraudulent representation by the CPCs or the Pregnancy Resource Centers.

At first glance, it indeed does seem suspect. But upon further reading, there does appear to be some deception which resulted in the need for the OP action. According to the OP, some of the clinics claim to offer "all-options". If the OP is accurate, I agree with Robert Snow here. In fighting abortion, we should not be in the business of lying or using deceit to take our stand.

Note, though, that this assumes the OP is accurate. The OP is actually a commentary, and not intended to serve as a news story or source.

THe following link, however, cites that, according to an advocacy group, women who visited crisis centers were misled about whether the centers also provide abortion services. That supports Robert Snow's assertion.

If these centers were being deceptive, it makes it mroe difficult for the rest of us to truthfully and honestly oppose abortion.

In my first posting on this thread I stated:

"The government should not dictate what information these pregnancy centers provide. But, we should not be in the business of lying or using deceit to stand against abortion. Just the plain old truth will be something I believe God will honor. There is enough truth about abortion to sway any rational woman that she should not abort her baby. If the truth doesn't convince a woman to not murder her unborn child, I doubt that anything else will."

As you can see, I have stated from the onset that the government should not dictate what information these pregnancy centers provide. I don't know if is a reading comprehension problem, but both you and donna seem to share it.

Do you have a problem with a Christian being honest?

All I have said is that in our stance against abortion, we need to take the high road and be Christian in our attitudes and our actions. As long as this is the case, we should do all we can to fight against the pro-death crowd!

I can't for the life of me see why anyone would have a problem with Robert Snow's position. Perhaps because it makes perfect sense.

    >So you think these counseling centers are a bad idea?

I don't have any data on their results. It would be interesting to know the economic and educational status of the women these centers counseled five and ten years ago. Are they living independent lives and paying their bills or are they on welfare?

Is it not true that most (a majority of, more than 51% of) single mothers are on welfare? Are many not second or third generation welfare families? Is there any logical or moral way to separate the moral and economic consequences? Pragmatically, does the program not breed a serf class . . . American Dalits?

I have the same problem with the "sent money to a child in a foreign country" charities which have been around for 50 years. If the program was a success one would think that it should be self-perpetuating by now.

Nothing makes it difficult to truthfully and honestly oppose abortions. The deception is already begun in the woman who thinks she'll get her man if she gets pregnant.... or thinks s@x carries no consequences, or who believes that society owes her an abortion solution or an entitlement for parenting. If she's too stupid to ask questions and get smart quick.... then planned parenthood will assure her of continuing in her stupidity whereas the counseling available through Crisis Pregnancy Centers might have given her some coping skills.... a little late to undo whats done but early enough for her to reposition on the right track of responsible maturity. CPC's also offer post abortion counseling which aren't part of planned parenthood.

While it appears the focus of the signege is to declare that abortion services and birth control are not available..... the arguments contained within indicate that the concerns are Planned Parenthoods disagreement with the statements made which tie abortions to increase in breast cancer, suicide, and infertility which this article ALLEGES there is no good research.

After viewing climate gate, or the movie EXPELLED , no intelligence allowed...... about scientist who out other scientist based upon a mere difference in pov where no conclusive data is available or yet definable... then how do we know that there is any serious research which disproves these statements.... or that the research which has been done is valid but being discarded as 'no good' or 'irrelevant' by the political lobbies of Planned Parenthood?

The side of evil has its own advocates without us succumbing to agreement with them.

A half a dozen undifferentiated cells is not a child.

If a lecture about keeping her pants on will convince a teen aged girl then one sermon about staying under the speed limit should convince a Baptist?
