Wow, I just read about this on CNN (December 7). (this is Pearl Harbor Day)

An American woman writes about the Russian mob exploiting immigrant women here in the USA, and shortly after vanishes. It's a cold-case, and some think she was murdered by the Russian mobsters. Others aren't so sure.

Hey, we have freedom of the press over here!

There is a lot of trafficking of women and not just by Russia. It was a major issue in Europe the last two winters. A missionary I met and grew to know in Prague worked with prostitutes in Prague. Almost all are from former Warsaw Pact counties. Many were there to support their husbands and children back in their home country where the economy is very bad and there are no job opportunities.

BBC carried a major broadcast on the kidnapping and trafficking of women. It is a huge, but largely ignored problem. It is a problem that is largely ignored here in the States.

    Is it ignorance or complicity?

Yes, often, it is ignored here in the USA. Though it is in some of our cities. I just read that when Obama visited Moscow, it wasn't expected that he'd even bring up the topic of organized crime. Though organized crime is a big Russian export.

Soooo, allow me to provide a link to the US Senate's page where constituents may conveniently find their Senator's name and send them a message:

I told my Senator I wanted the US government to crack down on organized crime, especially the Russian strain, with its marketing of women around the world.
