A group of Imams in the USA and Canada have issued a fatwa against attacks on the two North American nations, saying they are attacks on Muslims.

They attack one another in their own countries. How can they possibly see this as a deterrent? It's just PR.

Of course they do, e.g. Sunni vs. Shia. However, I find it refreshing that at least American Muslims are finally speaking out against terrorism. They have been criticized for not doing so more forcefully in the past.

They still aren't doing so. Out of the twenty that signed this, ONE is in America. The other 19 all reside in Canada.

Strange how it's taken over 8 years for a single report of an American Muslim condemning these things. This so called "fatwa" is also worded in a way that they aren't outright condemning attacks. They are attempting to explain to the attackers that the US and Canada allow for freedom of religion, so because of that the attacks are wrong. Reading the "fatwa" one can easily come to the conclusion that if we didn't allow Muslims to practice their religion so freely that violence would be acceptable.

Rev, I'm honestly shocked to see you fall for this one. I figured you would be one of the clear headed that could see through this deception. Islam is a tool of Satan. In this case Satan is using Islam to try and deceive people that it is a peace loving and acceptable religion. It's just another of Satan's lies to keep people from the Truth.

Agreed. And a fatwa is good enough.

It's a good move , and encouraging, but it's eight years late.

Not necessarily. Orange County (CA, not FL) Islamic centers formally denounced all acts of terrorism against the US, especially 9-11, back in 2002. They also formally denounced Bin Ladin and Al Queda.

This all happenned 8 years ago, but it didn't make the news.

Exactly what would it take for Muslims in North America to please you all? Their mass suicide?

For the to have immediately condemned terrorists actions. To consistently stand up to this evil. To act, behave, and actually believe it is not ok.
