In epic upset, GOP's Brown wins Mass. Senate race

BOSTON – In an epic upset in liberal Massachusetts, Republican Scott Brown rode a wave of voter anger to defeat Democrat Martha Coakley in a U.S. Senate election Tuesday that left President Barack Obama's health care overhaul in doubt and marred the end of his first year in office.

    Of course it is.

It not only changes the political math, it will scare the pants off a lot of democrats.

Possibly even enough for some of them to change their votes on what is clearly a lousy corruption riven piece of legislation.

I seem to recall people saying similar things about Ronald Reagan and the issue of his being divorced.

As I mentioned on the other thread, the way some of you place abortion as the only issue that matters, I find it interesting that you express glee at the election of another pro-abortion US Senator. I have been called a "baby killer" for supporting President Obama. So I guess the rest of you just joined the "baby killer" club as well.

I didn't vote for him or our president ( I haven't voted for anyone of the two major parties for president for a while, Reagan was the last time) and wouldn't vote for any pro abortion person. That is why I say both parties are very liberal, just one party is more liberal than the other. But the folks of Massachusetts have spoken, as the folks of the USA spoke for BHO.

Given that you were not one of the hypocrites for calling me "baby killer", this doesn't apply to you. Good post, Bob.

That's a bit of a stretch, for a number of reasons.

First, it was "Cosmopolitan", which doesn't exactly fit the definition of "risque mag". Second, the photo's weren't nudes, they were semi-nude (there was no graphic nudity). Third, it was almost 30 years ago. Fourth, if I looked as good as he did 30 years ago, I probably would have met my wife a lot sooner.

There's the issue of his support for abortion and same-sex unions re the family values point, though. Nevertheless, a big upset for Obama and his healthcare reforms - those of us on this side of the Pond await further developments with interest...

    Thank you for something.

This is one reason why I say Republicans had better not take this Christian Conservative's vote for granted.

So help me, if I am aware of a third party candidate which has the principles..... not just the talk but the walk, regarding the constitution, economic budgetry conservation, traditional marriage and traditional morality.... anit abortion..... and the Republicans don't have an equally or better suited candidate in this regard..... The Republicans nor the Democrats will get my vote..............

And I am aware of others who think the same way.

While I have never called anyone a "baby killer" I can explain the difference here.

A vote for Obama resulted in the immediate increase in Federal funding for overseas abortions.

A vote for Brown hopefully will result in the derailment of the Democrats health care bill which includes paying for abortions - either through taxes or by an accounting gimmick of calling the money "fees".

A vote for Obama resulted in more Federally funded abortions.

A vote for Brown prevents another increase in Federally funded abortions.

I have never voted for anyone who supported mudering children, and I do not live in Mass to have vote for this guy, so mp's accusations are baseless. as usual.

Were you called out? If not, you are, as usual, full of a certain luncheon meat.

Targus, justify it all you like. The fact is many on the BB said that no matter what else is good about a candidate, if he or she supports abortion rights then their supporters are "baby killers". Therein is the problem with one issue voters. And many are hypocritical.

It will be sorta fun to watch democrats in denial about how and why Brown won in Massachusetts. I hope they stay that way. They'll get killed in November.
