House Liberals To Pelosi: “We Cannot Support The Senate Bill. Period.”

In a private meeting in the Capitol just now, a dozen or more House liberals bluntly told Nancy Pelosi that there was no chance that they would vote to pass the Senate bill in its current form — making it all but certain that House Dems won’t opt for this approach, a top House liberal tells me.

“We cannot support the Senate bill — period,” is the message that liberals delivered to the Speaker, Dem Rep Raul Grijalva told me in an interview just now.

It would be nice to see them self destruct. Then in order to save face and be able to claim some type of victory Obama actually adopts some republican ideas like a la cart buying of insurance, buying across state lines, and Tort reform.

Obama is not able to do this. Clinton was good at it and learned his lesson in 94.

I think Obama will try. My forecast:

    • He's simply moved too far to the left. Any move 'back' will simply be viewed by most as disingenuous.
    • Obama will be too disgusted having to move back. He won't be able to keep a straight face when doing so. His "true colors" will come out from time to time, and he'll manage to sabatoge himself.
    • He's surrounded by people so thoroughly statist in their view...people like Rahm (Lucifer) Emmanuel simply cannot move to the right. He's only got one oar in the water, and it's on the left side of the boat.
    • Approximately 35% of the voting public will follow Obama no matter what he does:
      • 12%--are the 90% of the black population that will simply refuse to ever criticize Obama. He simply could not do anything, ever, to lose their vote.
      • The rest are folks that are very liberal in their views, or believe the press they hear, or operate on "feeling" mode only ("I 'feel' like he's sincere," or "I 'feel' like we need to give him more of a chance.")

I'd be happy to see the bill go away in most of its forms.

Ironically for, mostly, different reasons. I don't think the bill goes far enough and the pharmaceuticals and other powerful medical lobbies have destroyed it from the inside out. We need a public option.

The current bill is a gutted form of what the President desired, he should be happy to see it go away.

It started out as some 47 million un-insured, IIRC. A few months after a lot of questioning by the un-enamored public, it dropped to 35 million, again IIRC.

Big question - How many of those are w/o insurance by choice?

Say the figure is 35 million; roughly 10% of the nations population (excluding illegals, that is).

So why mess with 90% of people who are OK with what they have to blanket 10% who aren't???

If your car is running rough, and a diagnosis reveals that you need new plugs, new O2 sensors, and a new air filter, (cost ~ $500) you don't get an engine overhaul to cure the problem (cost ~ $6000).

Basically that's what this HC plan(?) is doing - overhauling a system that basically is fine, but may need some tuning up!

'Course most thinking/discerning people KNOW that this HC plan ain't about HC - it's totally and completely about CONTROL

    Special deals to buy votes
    Special deals for unions
    Secret meetings
Fast tracking legislation in order to limit legitimate public scrutiny
    Spending like drunken teenagers
    Weakness on national security

It is all catching up with this administration.

Don't forget budgetary tricks to lie about the cost.
