White House official: Feb. 25 health care meeting to be televised

President Obama's bipartisan meeting on health care reform planned for February 25 will be broadcast live, a senior administration official said Monday.

Coverage details were not complete, but the official said the White House expected "the whole thing to be live."

The half-day meeting is an attempt by the Obama administration to rescue health care legislation, a top domestic priority for the president. Televising it also would help fulfill a campaign promise by Obama that health care negotiations would be broadcast live.

On Tuesday, Obama will meet with Democratic and Republican leaders in the House and Senate for bipartisan talks that the president promised in his State of the Union address last month. Tuesday's meeting now will help prepare for the February 25 health care talks.

Of course.

And then there's the fact that the President always dominates these types of affairs, no matter who he is.

He can lie at will and can't be called on it.

Shouldn't the focus be on jobs?

Why are Republicans agreeing to meet to talk about the failed healthscare scam?

The Republicians are saying they may not attend. Why? Because they have no ideas of their own. So now they not only will be known as the party of NO, but also the party of NO SHOW.

Please provide me with your source supporting that Republicans say that they have no ideas of their own?

I am aware of many suggestions made by Republicans to reform the current healthcare system.

You are looking very uninformed here.

Sometimes I wonder if the GOP wants to be a permanent minority party. All they do is say "no, no, no" to everything the Democrats propose, even if the Republicans did the same thing when they were in charge.

Crabby and Paul are towing the party mantra of saying the Repulicans have no ideas which they know is an outright lie. Obama and his socialist ilk just don't like the alternative ideas.

Republicans say they have ideas and are not the party of NO. But they never seem to articulate them. If they have such great ideas it seems that national TV would be a great place to present them and show how superior their ideas are to those being proposed. Instead they are saying they probably will not show up ... so this lends credibility to the believe that they have no ideas and are afraid to go on national TV. So they are also the party of NO SHOW. I would welcome ideas from them to think over and use, if they have any.

How about Tort reform? But no! The Trial Lawyers who are fully in bed with the Dem's don't won't this.

How about insurance portability? But no, that would allow insurance companies to sell insurance across state lines. Any reasonable person would see that this is a good idea except democons.

How about ending favortism and sweetheart deals to get this legislation passed? But no! The unions and certain senators would be upset.

Tort reform

Portability

Allowing companies to sell insurance across State lines

You mean that you have heard of none of this before?

My you really do need to start paying attention.
