I care about their own morality and character. I care about the principals which guide them... and faith can be the best foundation.... or it can be deceptive. What concerns me most.... how much does each commit to the Constitution of the United States, and how much is based upon an understanding of its basis vs. case law developed from it and political influences surrounding that. Just what biases do each of them hold.... and are they intellectually honest and self aware to keep their own biases out of the court room or do they enter in with with preconceive agendas or persuasions which will affect their ability to judge fairly? As all have served in some judicial capacity.... what is the evidence of conduct and verdicts in the past which prove fairness or biases?

Seriously from a political point of view, it makes no difference what religion they profess. I simply want them to use the Constitution as their guide including but not limited to the 10th amendment.

One thing matters in my mind.

Do they see the Constitution as the Law of the Land or do will they interpret it to suit their biases. Sex, nationality, or religious choice don't really matter if they are committed to the Constitution.

If the best Protestants can do is JPS...give us a snake-handler, or a rastafarian. Can't get much more off-base (off-constitution, that is) than Justice Stevens.

If I get to "mail order" a Justice...give me a strict constructionist who is a Baptist, and has wisdom and character.

If I only get one thing...give me the strict, and the wisdom, and the character.
