Is this a bad thing? And is there anything in the bible to prohibit it?

Sort of reminds me of the story of a group of scientist going to God telling Him that humanity no longer needed Him. In fact, humanity had progressed so far as to be able to do everything that God could do. So, God challenges them to go and create life. The scientist stated that this would be no problem. God however puts one stipulation on the challenge. "First you must create your own dirt." I'm with C4K on this one. They haven't created life. They have simply manipulated it. Isn't there a scientific maxim that states that matter is neither created nor destroyed?

They did not create life.

They pieced together parts of existing DNA and inserted it into an existing living cell.

Yes there is. Also I read an article that they are manipulating DNA to create self supported energy cells. In which case once they creat DNA batteries they can create molicule droids. Is this a bad thing as well?

They by no means created life. They have though, seemingly, manipulated existing life and reshaped it.

What science does is no different than what I do in my cooking and baking--take what already exists and use it for your desired results, and change some things to get different results than originally intended. Man cannot make something from nothing; only God can do that.

So its not bad because we're just manipulating the ingredients. Ok what about when we get to the point of cloning humans. That would be awsome! And we could debate whether clones have souls or not.

The Supreme Court in 2005 ruled that there did not need to be reasonable cause to stop someone and check their immigration status. It was unanimous

Which is exaclty why science should never go there.

Those that would believe that a human clone has no soul would probably also place no value on those lives - like the abortion debate.

In some people's minds someone with no soul would be perfect for forced labor - or even ownership as slaves.

Would that be bad if we created them? I mean I clone myself and according to womens lib movement a womans body is her own to do with as she wishes, wouldn't this also go for a man. So my clone has my cells can't I expect everything from them. After all they aren't God's creation in the sense that they were naturally born ? Just curious not making a stand.

What part of "Which is exaclty why science should never go there." leads you to think that it would not be bad?

No sure of what your point is.

Are you simply trying to bait someone into an argument on this topic?

Or have you really not thought about this?

I'm asking natural questions. First if we create a clone can God be considered to have been responsible? If so as a first source or secondary source? If secondary source would we be able to use clones in the way we use machinary? Whats the difference?

Have you not already made any sort of personal judgement about these issues?

God is the creator of ALL life.

There is no other source of life - secondary or otherwise.

So if its biological life God is the source. But not if its mechanical. what happens when we combined the two?

Mechanical life?

Dude, turn off the TV and go outside for some fresh air.

We are making molecular robots are thats what we are shooting for. Pre programmed living cells to do our bidding. Ever hear of Nanotechnology? We're getting closer. How does that fit into your morality?
